My Quest for the Perfect Curly Hair Products

Image
I have curly hair and I'm always on the lookout for new products as I haven't found my holy grail product for taming my curls yet.  I decided last weekend while out shopping to buy a few curl products I haven't tried before to see if there are any really great products out there.  Join me on my quest.   I bought a couple of products from the John Frieda Frizz Ease Range.  Curl Reviver Mousse and Unwind Curls Calming Creme. I also bought Umberto Giannini Curl Friends Ultimate Curl Nourishing Oil and Lee Stafford HerE come the CurLs. Finally I bought Schwarzkopf got2b Beach matt mermaid look Texturizing Salt Spray. I haven't tested them out yet but just wanted to show you what I'd bought so far.   Also on my wish list are some products from the Aveda Be Curly range but I'm waiting for an offer from somewhere like Harvey Nichols before I splurge. I will post a review of the products when I've used them. If any of you have any recommendat

Tommy Guns Smooth & Finish Creme Review

I just thought I would let you know about Tommy Guns Smooth & Finish Creme. It’s a brand that I haven’t tried before, but I thought I would give this product a go, because I have curly hair that I mostly wear tied back in a ponytail or a bun when I am at work to keep the frizz at bay. This mostly works, but I still end up with short frizzy bits sticking up all over the place near my hairline by the end of the day.  Tommy Guns Smooth & Finish Creme really does control those frizzy bits and even at the end of the day, every hair is still in place. The added bonus is that it does not leave any residue in your hair and it does not leave you hair looking stiff and crispy. You can buy Tommy Guns at Asos  or Superdrug  and it costs approximately £6.50 for 100ml.   It contains Jojoba Oil for shine & smoothness and Vitamin E to leave hair moisturised and protected. If you are looking for a serum to do the same job then check out my review of the Ojon Rare Ble

Netflix and Cinema Recommendations - The Killing, Suite Francaise, Fast & Furious 7

If you are looking for something to watch, here are some films and tv shows that I really do recommend. On Netflix The Killing - I just binge watched all 44 episodes and I loved it.  This is the US version of the Danish original.  It's dark, atmospheric, has a strong female lead and the relationship between the 2 main detectives (Sarah Linden and Stephen Holder played by Mirielle Enos and Joel Kinnaman respectively) just grows and grows over the 4 seasons.  The one liners that Holder constantly comes out with  have to be some of the best on TV.  This is must watch tv and what binge watching was invented for.  I have to say when I got to the end I just wanted to rewatch it all again straightaway.  I can't wait to watch the Danish version to see how it compares. In Your Eyes - check out my full review here of this sweet romance involving 2 completely different people who share a unique bond. Cinema Suite Francaise  - starring Michelle Williams and Matth

There is a great freebie available with the May 2015 edition of Red magazine (out now).  You will receive a free Rodial Stemcell Super-food Glam Balm (25ml worth £21). The magazine costs £4. The May 2015 Edition of Cosmopolitan also has a good freebie.  You can choose between 4 different shades of CID nail polishes (worth £12 each). The May 2015 issue of Instyle has 4 different Eyeko products available (worth over £40 in total) - The Skinny Liquid Liner, The Fat Eye Stick, Lash Curlers or Mascara Off Wipes. I think these are all pretty decent freebies don't you?  Let me know if there are any other magazine freebies available right now. Leighlee

L'Occitane The Magic Key

Image
Don't you just hate it when you can't squeeze everything out of a tube of beauty product.  You end up in all kinds of shapes trying to force the last bit out (it's not just me is it?) or asking someone to try and squeeze the last bit onto your hands.  I could cut the end off but I just don't want to as it ends up messy and going everywhere.   Well I found the answer to my prayers (well for metal tubes anyway).  I went to a beauty event at L'Occitane last year which I really enjoyed and as I was browsing around the store I noticed The Magic Key.   You just put the end of the tube in between the 2 metal prongs and twist. It's that easy.  I've used it on a couple of tubes - Jurlique Hand Cream and Davines Authentic Moisturising Balm and it got every last drop out (maybe not every drop but pretty much everything).  There would be no point in cutting the tube as there's not going to be much left to get out after using the Magic Key.  It only cost
