*KELO-COTE Scar Treatment

Image
*I received this product for free but the opinions are my own. I was recently sent *KELO-COTE Scar Treatment to try out.  KELO-COTE Scar Treatment helps soften and flatten scars, reduce redness and relieves itching.   This treatment can be used as soon as the wound is closed, stitches are removed or the scab has fallen off.  The affected areas needs to be clean and dry and then you apply a thin layer of the treatment onto the scar twice a day (you do not need to rub it in).  The treatment drys in 5 minutes to form a flexible, waterproof, transparent layer (although you can remove any excess product if it does not dry completely.  You can apply sunscreen and makeup once the treatment is dry. I have found that this product is  quick and easy to use.  It forms a thin barrier over any scar and drys as stated in 5 minutes so you don't need to worry about it being wiped off your skin.  I don't notice it on my skin at all as it doesn't tighten over the scar and you really can

Primark Reusable Cleansing Pads, Cutlery & Bags plus Instore Recycling Scheme

Image
Primark is one of those stores that is almost impossible to come out of without purchasing anything.  If any store is responsible for fast fashion then Primark is at the top of the list, so I have been trying to cut back on purchases and at least try to buy products that can be reused instead of thrown away.  Here are some of the reusable products that I have bought recently in Primark. I purchased Alex Steinherr makeup Remover Pads which cost £1.50 for 2 and are like a thick flannel material in a round shape which you can use with water to cleanse your face and remove makeup. The wood cutlery set cost £1.50 and comes with 4 knives, forks and spoons.  I purchased 10 reusable cleansing pads for £2 which are 73% bamboo and 27% cotton and are vegan.  These are a great alternative to face wipes and cotton wool pads and come in a bag that you can keep the used pads in and then throw them straight in the wash. Finally, I purchased a couple of reusable organic cotton shopping bags. The large

Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen SPF30

Image
Being that we had a heatwave in the UK in June, SPF is a must right now (although I do wear SPF even when it's not sunny). I hate how greasy some sunscreens make my skin feel and it's hard to reapply without getting grease everywhere and staining my clothes. One of my favourite sunscreens is Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen as it's lightweight, completely invisible and does not make my skin look greasy.  It's easy to reapply throughout the day and it doesn't clog my pores. It even doubles as a primer before makeup, because it leaves a lovely smooth base.  It contains UVB high protection, it's SPF 30 and it's also water resistant and oil-free so this product is great for all skin types. It doesn't leave a white cast on my face and is fragrance free. It's not cheap at £30 for 50ml, but it's a product that I repurchase again and again. I like Unseen Sunscreen so much that I bought a couple of other products from the same range -  Supergoop! Glow Stick

*Happiness Habit Jar 30 Days of Inspiration By adbra

Image
*I received this product for free but the opinions are my own. I was recently sent a Happiness Habit Jar * 30 Days of Inspiration with Positive Affirmations.  It couldn't have come at a better time as l ast week was a stressful one at work, I knew it was going to be very busy even before 2 people called in sick.  I could just feel things getting on top of me and then a package arrived in the post with  the Happiness Habit Jar.  The jar was so colourful with all the different notes in that I couldn't resist opening it straight away (you might notice in the photo below that the string isn't as tightly wrapped as it should be because I couldn't wait to open it).  I'm one of those people that tends to just get on with things and probably lets things build up for a while before I break, this day was looking like it was going to be a bad one and my stress levels were rising. The first affirmation that I pulled out of the jar was 'I am resilient'.  This couldn

& Other Stories - Brazilian Bum Bum Cream Dupe

Image
Sol de Janeiro's famous Brazilian Bum Bum Cream is one of my absolute favourite products ever, I just adore the scent (you can find my thoughts on the products from this brand here, here and here ). Unfortunately, as it is a rather pricey product at £44 for 240ml, it's a treat for me rather than a regular purchase, so I was intrigued to hear about a dupe for the scent sold by & Other Stories.  & Other Stories is one of my favourite stores and I have bought lots of jewellery from them as they sell really nice pieces at reasonable prices. They sell a range of products called Perle de Coco which I was informed smelled exactly like Brazilian Bum Bum cream (lets call it BBBC from now on) and it's much cheaper. Of course I had to go investigate at my nearest store and I picked up a couple of products to try out. First was the Perle de Coco Body Lotion which costs £8 for 350ml. As it's a body lotion rather than a cream, it is not as thick, rich and creamy as BBBC,

Life in lockdown Part 5 - The Never Ending Story

Image
I can't believe it's June already. Where has the time gone, it is just flying by so quickly which is strange as we haven't been able to do that much in lockdown.   I'm sure most of us would have holidays booked or have already been on holiday but hopefully we can get back to that soon  I definitely can't wait to go abroad again where my biggest worry is what to do that day.   Who knows what the future holds but hopefully with vaccinations now available there is light at the end of the tunnel.   I seem to have lost all my motivation over the last couple of months, I don't know if it was the rubbish weather in May or what but this last couple of weeks of brilliant sunshine it just seems easier to do things again.  I definitely enjoy these lighter nights as I feel like I can get much more done. Anyway I thought I would catch up on what I have been up to since my last post.  I must admit that when the lockdown eased a little I did go shopping and bought a fair few t

Etsy - More Purchases from Small Businesses - Headbands & Diffusers

Image
Since my last post about my purchases from small businesses on Esty ( here ), I have made a couple more purchases (I had forgotten how much I love to shop).   I am currently planning my outfit for my sisters wedding later in the year (hopefully it will happen this time as it's the 3rd time she's rearranged the date in the last year).  I am trying to decide how to wear my hair as I don't really wear it down very often as it's curly and I worry about getting the frizzes. I thought I would try a headband to at least keep it out of my face so I don't keep touching it and making it frizzy (I worry it's frizzy so I touch it to check if it's frizzy and low and behold because I keep touching it to check, it gets frizzy).  Anyway I decided to buy a couple of headbands with faux gemstones which I thought were really pretty. I bought the Fluorite chipped gemstone headband for £8.50 and the Blue electroplated glass bead headband for £8 (plus £1.75 postage) and I love th

Life in Lockdown Part 4 - Disney+, Amazon Prime & Etsy

Image
Lockdown seems to have gone on forever but there may be light at the end of the tunnel fingers crossed.  I thought I would do a quick catch up on what I've been doing throughout lockdown.  I subscribed to Disney+ recently and watched On Pointe which is about the School of American Ballet in New York City.  I find shows like this fascinating and really enjoyed watching it.  I hope there will be another season soon.   I have also been watching New Amsterdam on Amazon Prime which if you were a fan of ER or watch Grey's Anatomy you will probably enjoy it.  It follows Dr Max Goodwin as the Medical Director of New Amsterdam which is a Public Hospital and all the trials and tribulations that come with trying to provide patients with the best care regardless of whether they can afford it or not which if you know anything about American hospitals is not how most of them work and makes you thankful for the NHS. I'm also trying to re watch all my old DVDs which rarely see the light of

Small Businesses on Etsy - Sweets, Face Masks and False Nails - My Recommendations

Image
I have recently made my first few purchases on Etsy and I wanted to show you what I purchased. I am loving the idea of supporting small businesses and Etsy is a great way of doing just that. My first purchase was a couple of face masks and I decided to purchase from FlowerLouCreations because they had some Disney prints that I wanted (the Epcot Spaceship Earth pattern and the purple wall at Magic Kingdom).  They also offered a deal where you could get a face mask and hair accessory (I chose a scrunchie) in the same print for £9 (individually the face mask is £7 and the scrunchie is £3). The deal included any hair accessory from a choice of 3.  Delivery  was free.  It was easy to set up an account on Etsy and pay with Paypal. Delivery was fast and the products that I ordered were just what I wanted.  I definitely recommend this seller.  Next I was looking for some Liquorice Allsorts for a Mothers Day present and I chose SpoonfulOfSweetsUK because they had special Mothers Day packaging

Reusable Stainless Steel and Glass Straws from Poundland

Image
Another step in being more sustainable is moving to reusable straws.  I wouldn't say I use straws loads as I wouldn't use a straw for a hot drink and I usually drink from cans but I should try to use them more as I want to try and protect my teeth from damage as I do drink a lot of Pepsi Max (but that's a whole other story).   I saw these stainless steel and glass reusable straws at Poundland for £1 each (obviously) and thought they were worth a try. The stainless steel ones are all identical with the bend at the top.   They come in packs of 4 and they can be used with hot or cold drinks and a cleaning brush is included.  Cleaning them is easy, you just hand wash them using the cleaning brush which takes a couple of minutes max.  They are hand wash only so can't be put in the dishwasher.  It does advise you to take care using it with hot drinks as the straw may become hot but as I mentioned before I don't really see the need to use them with hot drinks and in all fa

Mothers Day Gifts - *Daisy The Dachshund Planter & *Industrial Plant Mister

Image
*I received these products for free but the opinions are my own. With Mothers Day coming up I have been wondering what to get my mum this year.  Usually we book a day at the Spa but sadly that's not on the cards at the moment but fingers crossed that will happen some time this year if we are lucky.   I was sent Daisy The Dachshund Planter* to review and I thought this would be a great gift for mums out there who have green fingers and want a little bit of greenery around the house.   Daisy is a mini leak-proof ceramic planter which you can put on your desk or anywhere around the home.  Daisy is so cute and will look great with some small plants in.   Daisy is available for £16  here . A useful gift alongside Daisy is the Industrial Plant Mister* which is a handy way to water the plants inside your home.  It's small but holds 350ml of water and is great to make sure that your household plants are watered on a regular basis.     Both of these products are from Kikkerland  but u

Skinny Whip Snack Bars & Mini Update on my Diet

Image
So I am doing that predictable thing of dieting in the New Year (see my first post here ).  I am not a dieter as like most people I like my food too much but I think with lockdown and the fact that a lot of restaurants are closed or only doing takeaways it is probably as good a time as any to do it as there isn't as much temptation.  Anyway so far it's going ok (I'm only 2 weeks in) and I have lost another 2lbs (I didn't exercise as much last week as I should have done) taking me to a total of 7lbs lost so far which I am really pleased about.   One of the things that has helped me a lot is the Skinny Whip Snack Bars that you can get in B&M and Home Bargains.  As I mentioned in my last post I have a sweet tooth and love my chocolate.  I can eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner, so I was worried that I would struggle to give it up while I was on the diet.  These snack bars are a game changer for me.  They taste as good as any chocolate bar and I have found that I do

I've finally found a diet that works for me - Slim Fast & Slimming World

Image
Yes, it's true, I will say it again, I have finally found a diet that works for me.  Stop me if you have heard this one before, but the secret to losing weight is basically eat less and exercise more (mind blown!!!).  It's taken me a long time to really commit to that, but I finally have and I have already lost 5 pounds in the first week.  I have always been reluctant to calorie count as I thought it would be adding an extra complication into my life, but after years of being overweight and trying to diet here and there, I have finally worked out a plan that is easy to incorporate into my daily life.  It started when I was flipping through channels on TV and came across 'Lose a stone in 4 weeks', where participants tried different diets for a month in the hopes of hitting the target of 1 stone weight loss.  There were loads of different diets to choose from and it was an interesting watch, with some diets that I wouldn't touch with a barge pole but others that I tho

Beautylish Original Lucky Bag 2021 Review - UK Purchaser

Image
Beautylish Lucky Bags are mystery boxes full of beauty products including makeup and skincare.  I don't purchase any subscription boxes nowadays as I was just overloaded with products that I never use but I can't resist the Beautylish Lucky Bags.  They  are on offer once a year and it's nice to get a box full of surprises especially from America as a lot of the products are either brands we can't get over here or brands I haven't tried before.    The Original Lucky Bag costs $75 (approx £55) and includes at least $150 worth of products which is a good deal.  Obviously you don't know what you are getting but getting double the amount of surprise products is ok with me.    There is a Jeffree Star Lucky Bag as well but I'm not a big fan as there are a lot of outlandish colours in his collection and that's just not for me as I can't carry those colours off.  Beautylish also offer an XL Lucky Bag (and a Jeffree Star option) which costs $150 for $300+ wo

Natural Deodorant Reviews

Image
I have been meaning to try out more natural deodorants for a while and being back in lockdown has allowed me to use various natural deodorants without the risk of them potentially failing whilst I am in the office.  I am happy to report that all the deodorants I have tried have worked very well and I will be continuing to  use them in the future rather than the sprays that I have relied on in the past.  The deodorants that I am reviewing below were all purchased by me. Natural deodorants do not necessarily stop you from sweating, they are more about keeping you fresh and odour free, but I haven't felt like a sweaty betty when I have been using these products I am happy to report. Lush Aromaco Solid Deodorant  costs £6.50 for 100g which is a nice chunky block.  This product uses antibacterial witch hazel and soothing camomile vinegar and it's very easy to use by rubbing it on clean, dry armpits.  It doesn't leave a residue on your skin or mark you clothes and I haven't h

*Reverse Life Super Strength Immune 52 Power Boost Review
