Beauty Box Wars - Glossybox Versus Birchbox

Image
I used to get up to 5 beauty boxes every month a couple of years ago, but a combination of wanting to save some money, already having a huge stash of products, boxes containing the same old brands and in some cases exactly the same products and just general crappy products being included in boxes made me put a stop to all my subscriptions.  I was recently tempted back when Glossybox did a limited edition Sunday Riley box and offered £5 off and early access to subscribers.  I really wanted the Sunday Riley box, so I decided to re-subscribe. I found a couple of discount codes online and managed to get £4 off the subscription price, so all in all it cost just under £9.25 (or £4.25 if you take into account the £5 discount off the Sunday Riley box).     After ordering Glossybox I was interested to see if beauty boxes had upped their game since I last received one.  When I received an offer from Birchbox  which was to receive a free box with the September box, as one of the products on

Hourglass Caution Extreme Lash Mascara Review

I recently took advantage of the Space NK free goody bag when you spend a certain amount of money (think it was £150 on this occasion -  I made an order with my sister so I didn't have to fork out the full amount).  The Space NK goody bag is always great, so it would be rude not to take advantage when such an offer is available (that's what I keep telling myself anyway). I usually end up buying some high end products that I couldn't justify spending my money on ordinarily and one of those products that I put in my basket was the  Hourglass Caution Extreme Lash Mascara . To be fair it only cost £12 as I bought the travel size version which is 5.5g.  I think travel size mascaras are a good idea as the brush is the normal size it's just the wand that is shorter and I don't know about you but I usually waste a ton of product when I throw a full size mascara away as I only keep them for about 3 months each. In addition the full size product costs £25 for 9.4g, so t

Sol de Janeiro Bum Bum Bath Bomba

I really like Sol de Janeiro products as you can read from my brand review here . When I found out about the limited edition  Sol de Janeiro Bum Bum Bath Bomba I was really keen to try it out, but the £10 price point was really putting me off.  £10 seems a bit steep for a bath bomb doesn't it?  I recently took advantage of the gift with purchase goody bag from Cult Beauty and the goody bag included a £15 gift card, so I decided to use the gift card to buy a couple of bath bombs to try out.   First of all it smells exactly like the famous Brazilian Bum Bum Cream which is caramel, pistachio, sandalwood and jasmine.  It's so rich and creamy and yummy smelling.  The bath bomb itself contains marine algae, cupuacu butter, coconut oil and acai.  It's a wonderful hydrating product that you can just drop into the bath and whilst it fizzes away, it turns the bath water turquoise. Overall, it's one of the best bath bombs I have tried and my skin felt really soft

MIA

Yeah baby I'm back (points to anyone who can tell me which 90's TV series that quote comes from).  Hi All, sorry I have been MIA lately.  I had some bad news a few weeks back and I just needed some time away from things.   I'm hoping to get back to posting on my usual schedule shortly which is Wednesday and Saturdays.  I'll be running another giveaway shortly as well so look out for that.
