Red's True BBQ in Leeds Review

Image
I recently enjoyed a visit to  Red's True BBQ in Leeds for the first time and I heartily recommend it.  The service is super fast and the food is delicious. Just don't visit if you are on a diet as you will fall off the wagon completely.  I didn't bother with a starter as I knew that the main course would be way more than enough for me. I ordered the Juicy Lucifer burger which came with spicy fries and I also ordered a side order of giant onion rings.  The onion rings were nearly as big as the burger and sadly I only managed to eat one of them.  If you like spicy food then I definitely recommend the J uicy Lucifer.  It contains 2 5oz steak patties with a melted spicy 3 cheese centre, fried onions, pickles, dirty sauce, peppered bacon, mustard and spicy hot wing sauce.  Man my mouth is watering just thinking about it. Sorry for the quality of the photo below it's a bit embarrassing taking photos of your food and I really wanted to tuck in as it looked so good.

Ice Cube Ice Rink Millennium Square Leeds

Image
If you are looking for something to do in the half term holidays, then look no further than the Ice Cube Ice Rink at Millennium Square in Leeds.  It's open until 22 February 2015 and it's great fun.  Tickets cost £8 for an adult and £6 for a child for a 1 hour skate.  Skate sessions during the holidays are 10:00am, 11:15am, 12:30pm, 1:45pm, 3:00pm, 4:15pm, 5:30pm, 6:45pm and 8:00pm (no 8:00pm session on Sundays).   There is a separate nursery rink for children 8 years and younger and penguin skating aids are available in the nursery rink. Tickets can be booked online here  or in person from the Ice Cube Ticket Office. I highly recommend it as it's great fun, although hard work and can be painful if you fall. There are also other attractions at the site including the North Pole Starflyer, The Snowslide, Glacier Run Experience Simulator and Snowball Adventure. This is great fun for all the family and it's a reasonable price too (there are family tickets a

AFYNA Organic Detoxifying Scrub Review

Image
The great thing about beauty boxes is the opportunity to try out brands that you have never heard of before. One such brand that I have tried out recently is AFYNA which is a new organic skincare range founded and developed by Sara Young. Sara is an experienced spa therapist and she has created products that penetrate quickly into the skin, which use certified organic ingredients combined with powerful bio-extracts. AFYNA is hand blended in Cornwall. I chose to receive the AFYNA Organic Detoxifying Scrub as part of my  You Beauty Discovery box and I am really glad that I got to try this product out. It’s a gentle organic detoxifying gel that uses apricot kernels to polish away dead skin cells. It contains 5 essential oils juniper berry, grapefruit, cypress, cedarwood and rosemary, which helps the body detoxify and reduces the signs of cellulite. The Organic Detoxifying Body Scrub costs £17 for 100ml. You apply this scrub to your body before a bath or shower

In Your Eyes Film Review

Image
I subscribe to Netflix, mainly to catch up on some TV series that I missed when they were on tv (Breaking Bad amongst others). One of the things that I struggle with on Netflix is finding good movies. I can’t count the amount of times that I have started watching a movie, but given up after half an hour because it just does not grab me. So when I find a great movie, I want to share it with everyone.  One such movie is In Your Eyes. Written by Joss Whedon of Buffy fame, this is the story of 2 people from completely different worlds (one a wealthy doctors wife in New Hampshire, the other an ex-con trying to get on with his life after prison in New Mexico). Since childhood they have shared a telepathic link which they have barely been aware of, but years later this link suddenly becomes much more intense and they can see, feel and hear what is happening to the other, although they cannot read each other’s minds and they are able to break the connection at will.

Serenity Spa at Seaham Hall

I recently spent the day at The Serenity Spa at Seaham Hall. The spa and hotel are close to the A1 near Sunderland in the North-East of England. They had a special offer to spend the day in the spa with use of all the facilities including a 35 minute facial and a 50 minute body massage for £125 which I thought was a good deal.   We arrived at the spa at 8.45am and were greeted with a glass of cranberry juice or mineral water whilst we completed the medical forms. Then we were given a guided tour, after which we quickly changed into our swimming costumes and complimentary robe and slippers to go for a swim in the 20 meter indoor pool. I have to say the pool was lovely and so warm it was like swimming in a bath, it wasn’t crowded so we easily found a lounger around the pool to relax in, although there is so much to do we did not spend much time lounging around. Next we jumped into one of the two outdoor balcony hot tubs and even though it was really cold and windy
