LA Drugstore, Nordstrom, MAC & Duty Free Haul

I did some major beauty shopping on my recent trip to LA and I have already posted about my Sephora Hauls here and here.  I also bought some things in the drugstores, Nordstrom, MAC and at the airport, so I thought I would do a post about those purchases.  The drugstores that I visited were Walgreens and CVS.

I would really like my teeth to be whiter, so before going to my dentist for professional whitening I thought I would try out some toothpaste which I believe is stronger that the products you can buy in the UK.  I bought Aquafresh Extreme Clean and Rembrandt Intense Stain  for $8.99.

I visited Nordstrom at The Grove and I wish I had spent more time in there as they had some amazing gift sets.  I bought the hard to get in the UK Lorac Pro Palette for $42.  This is a great palette with a nice mixture of matte and shimmer shades. I will definitely get so much use out of this palette.

These are my drugstore purchases.  I bought a EOS Visibly Soft Lip Balm Sphere in Coconut Milk, a Maybelline Baby Lips Moisturizing  Lip Gloss $4.49 and Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara $8.99. I love the EOS balm, it really does keep my lips moisturised.  The Maybelline lip gloss gives a sheer wash of colour and is not sticky at all.  The mascara immediately made my eyelashes look longer with just one coat.

I was also tempted to add to my MAC lipstick collection, so I picked up the shade Twig which I think is a wear anywhere, anytime sort of shade.  I love it.

Finally, I picked up a couple of Clinique products at LAX at duty free prices.  I bought Clinique Moisture Surge Face Spray and Moisture Surge Overnight Masque.

Sorry I couldn't find my receipts for all the products so I've just listed the prices of the ones I have.  I will post reviews of some of the products once I've tried them.

**Reposted as the Primark Vitamin Enriched Moisturising Primer is  currently reduced to £2.50 from £4.50. I picked up the Primark Vitamin Enriched Moisturising Primer because it looked like it was a dupe for the Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base. The Primark version costs £4.50 for 45ml and the Bobbi Brown Face Base costs £48.50 for 50ml, so there is quite a price difference.   I had always wanted to try out the Bobbi Brown product, so when I received a mini version in a gift with purchase goody bag I was really excited to try it out, but I have to say I was somewhat underwhelmed.  I have quite dry skin and the face base did not have as much slip as I was expecting, so it didn't feel smooth when I applied my foundation. For the price I was expecting to love it way more than I did. Primark LED Light Mask Review

I have wanted to get an LED Mask for ages but with prices for some of them at over £400 I just haven't been able to pull the trigger and buy one yet. So when I saw the LED Light Mask in Primark for £15 I just had to try it out.  The Primark version targets 3 different skin concerns with 3 different types of light sources. Red Light - Use for Anti-Aging benefits by helping to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles Blue Light - Helps to remove acne causing bacteria and reduce skin  inflammation Yellow Light - Helps to improve rough skin, reduces appearance of wrinkles and skin redness To use you cleanse your face and apply soothing and hydrating products.  You can use with face cream, eye cream, facial mask, eye mask, essence, toner etc.  Press the button for 2 seconds to turn on and press again until the LED light that you want to use appears.  You then use it for 10-20 minutes.  It does advise that in case of sensitivity to use with your eyes closed.  After use switch

Aldi Lacura Vitabase Moisturising Primer Review - Bobbi Brown Dupe

I managed to get my hands on the newly released Lacura Vitabase Moisturising Primer from Aldi which is supposed to be a dupe of the Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base. It costs £5.99 for 50ml whereas the Bobbi Brown product costs £48.50 for 50ml. That's a big difference especially at times like these when every penny counts. The big question - is it any good? I actually really enjoyed using this primer. I have dry skin and this thick creamy primer really suited my skin. It contains vitamin c, vitamin b, vitamin e, shea butter, sodium hyaluronate & geranium oil and I found it very hydrating on my skin and it provided a great base for my makeup. My makeup stayed on all day and didn't go patchy or dry. It also has a fresh grapefruit and geranium scent which is really refreshing, but don't worry its not an overpowering smell.
