Sally Beauty Haul - Leeds Flagship Store

Sally has opened a flagship store in Leeds, which is their first shop in the North of England.  It's on Albion Steet in Leeds City centre.  It's a really great shop that sells a wide variety of hair and beauty products. When I found one in Leeds I couldn't resist going in and browsing (who am I kidding I mean buying).

There was loads of stuff I was tempted to buy, but I managed to restrain myself and only buy a few things.  Here's what I bought.
Sally Hair & Beauty Products Haul Leeds The Wet Brush Detangling Hairbrush
The Wet Brush Detangling Hairbrush.  I am very attached to my Tangle Teezer as it makes brushing my curly hair a breeze, but I heard really great things about this brush on a few blogs so thought I would try it out. This was £8.99.  I did find this easy to use on my hair and it is just as good as my trusty Tangle Teezer.  It really gets through the knots, without pulling my hair out like most normal brushes.
Sally Hair & Beauty Products Haul Leeds Clubman Virgn Island Bay Rum
Clubman Virgin Island Bay Rum.  I've never heard of this before so thought I would give it a try.  It says on the bottle that it's a classic all purpose fragrance which instantly cools, tones and refreshes the skin.  You can use it all over the body.  I couldn't test this instore as they did not have a tester out, so I bought it as I hoped it would have a summer in a bottle smell, sadly it doesn't.  It smells kind of peppery and spicy and leans towards the masculine, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but its just not for me (that will teach me to buy before I try). This was £6.95.
Sally Hair & Beauty Products Haul Leeds Polish Holders
2 x Polish Holders.  This seems like a great idea as I am always holding the nail polish bottle between my knees and the amount of times it nearly falls and goes all over the carpet is unreal. These were £2.69 each.
Sally Hair & Beauty Products Haul Leeds
Disposable Mascara and Lip Gloss Wands.  These will always come in handy and at £2.99 each seemed like a good deal.

Well that was my haul.  I am sure I will go back again as there were loads of things I had my eye on.  If you are interested in checking Sally out their website is here.

Have you shopped at Sally?  What's your must have item?

The Original WACKY Sox

I thought I would write a quick post on some wacky sox I couldn't resist buying recently.  I was just browsing around some shops at an event I attended recently and the bright colours caught my eye like a magpie.  I really liked the look of them and they will go well under my Hunter boots this winter.  I couldn't decide on just one pair, so in the end I bought 3. They were £10 each or 3 for £25 (it would be rude not to buy 3 with that offer surely).
The Original WACKY Sox
L-R Milky Way, Purple Smoothie & Dark Desires
The Original WACKY Sox
You can find their website here.  I can't find the offer online where you can pick 3 of any style for £25 but there are some special offers on the site that are worth looking at if you fancy more than one pair.  They generally seem to range in price from £7.99 - £9.99 depending on size.  Sadly I have big feet so have to pay top whack.  If you are really creative you can even design your own socks, although I think there is a minimum order for that so it would have to be for a group of you.

I thought these were really fun.  Normally I don't spend ages deciding on what socks to buy, but there were so many great designs to choose from it took a while.

I bought these with my own money and the link is not sponsored

You Beauty Discovery Box Review - September 2014

I have just received the September You Beauty Discovery Box and as You Beauty Discovery is now a year old, it’s the birthday treat box. Everyone received a discount of £25 off your first order with Hello Fresh (I haven’t decided if I will make use of this yet). We also received two soothing Crabtree & Evelyn tea Bags – Classic Afternoon Tea and New Green Tea with Blackberry (I really wish that beauty box companies would stop putting tea bags in their boxes as not everyone drinks tea). There is also a little face sponge, which may come in handy for applying foundation on the go.

As a birthday treat everyone also received a full size tub of Toni&Guy GLAMOUR Volume Plumping Whip(90ml worth £7.19). This gives your locks body and bounce from the roots (again not a product I will use as my curly hair has enough body and bounce already).

Now onto the products that I chose:
Eyeko Hydrogel Eye Patch (2 sachets containing 2 eye patches in each worth £7.50) – this product promises radiant and bright eyes, visibly diminishing dark shadows and puffiness. This is definitely something that I need, so I am looking forward to trying this out).
Germaine de Capuccini Excel Therapy 02 Continuous Defense Cream (5ml sample worth £5.15) & Multi-Regenerating Rose Hip Oil (3ml sample £1.50) – the rosehip oil is ideal for treating dehydrated skin and the defense cream revitalises and nourishes skin. Again this is perfect for my needs.
You Beauty Discovery Box September 2014

The other choices were:
  1. Pixi Endless Silky Eye Pen
  2. Pixi Tinted Brilliance Balm
  3. Perricone MD No Foundation Foundation
  4. Wild About Beauty Nutrilips Lipstick SPF15
  5. Mavala Manicure Time-Save Fast Drying Nail Polish Finish
  6. John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Colour Protecting Moisturising Shampoo & Conditioner
The You Beauty Discovery Box costs £6.95 per month including postage and packing and you can sign up here.

L'Occitane Instyle Shopping Night Haul

I went to my first shopping event at L’Occitane last week which was organised by Instyle Magazine. It cost £10 for a ticket and there was a free goodie bag and a 15% discount on skincare available for those who attended. There were also treatments and snacks available.
I arrived at the store just after 6.30pm to be greeted by a staff member who explained what would be happening. I then went downstairs to the main shopping area to check out some of the products. There were about 12 people there in total and there was a group of people already sitting down near the treatment area, so I browsed around the store and was offered a glass of champagne which I happily accepted. Someone came over and explained some of the products, but luckily there was no hard sell.  I was then  offered a skin consultation where the assistant applied some of the products from the Immortelle and Divine ranges and explained how and when to apply them and what the benefits were. That was really nice, almost like a mini facial.
Once the skin consultation had finished I did some shopping and I was hoping for a hand massage, but there was only one station and it took so long to do one person that the assistant did not have time to do one for everyone which was a shame.  The group that was sitting nearest the hand massage station pretty much took up all her time and were still there when I left at 8pm. I would have liked to buy some of the Divine range as it felt so nice on my skin, but it was just too expensive even with the 15% discount. Luckily I have some deluxe samples that I have received from various beauty boxes, so I will make sure I use them soon. It's definitely a range I will consider purchasing in the future when I have used up the majority of my skincare stash mountain (if that ever happens).

As I was leaving I was given my goodie bag which was better than I expected.  There were 11 products to try out which I am looking forward to. Here's what was in the goodie bag:
L'Occitane Instyle Shopping Event Haul Goodie Bag
Definitely the goodie bag and the chance to try out the Divine range which left my skin looking and feeling amazing.
I definitely learnt a few things such as putting eye cream on  last (for some reason I thought you should put it on after serum but before moisturiser) and also that you can use a serum and facial oil together (I always thought using both would be too much, so I tend to alternate between using a serum one night and a facial oil the next). I have also been putting my eye cream too close to my eyes, its better to apply it to the top of the cheek bone rather than the sensitive skin around the eyes.
The staff were not intrusive, they did not follow you around trying to give you the hard sell, which is always appreciated.
It would have been nice to have a hand massage, but there wasn’t enough time to get around to everyone as there was only one station.
The 15% discount was only on facial skincare.  I would definitely have purchased more if the discount was on everything.
They didn't have soft drinks so as my friend was driving she wasn't able to drink anything.
The lows are only minor though and it was worth the £10 I paid for the ticket.
Here's what I bought:
L'Occitane Instyle Shopping Event Haul Immortelle Brightening Mist, Angelica Cleansing Gel & Verveine Cooling Hand Gel
Immortelle Brightening Mist (100ml) - £16.00 (reduced to £13.60 with discount)
Angelica Cleansing Gel (200ml) - £16.00 (reduced to £13.60)
Verveine Cooling Hand Gel (30ml) - £8.00 (no discount)
L'Occitane Instyle Shopping Event Haul One Minute Hand Scrub
One Minute Hand Scrub (100ml) - £15 (no discount)
L'Occitane Instyle Shopping Event Haul Angelica Instant Hydratration Mask
Angelica Instant Hydratration Mask (75ml) - £24 (reduced to £20.40)
L'Occitane Instyle Shopping Event Haul The Magic Key
The Magic Key - £6 (no discount) - This helps you squeeze every last drop of product out of tubes so I thought I would give it a try for £6.  It works pretty well on metal tubes, so it was worth buying as I have never seen this for sale anywhere else (I will now probably find something similar at the pound shop knowing my luck).
L'Occitane Instyle Shopping Event Haul Escape to Provence set
As I spent over £30 I could buy the Escape to Provence set for £12.50 (normally £22).  This set contains Lavender Foaming Bath (100ml), Aromachology Repairing Shampoo, Conditioner & Revitalising Shower Gel (all 75ml), Almond Hand Cream (10ml).
L'Occitane Instyle Shopping Event Haul sachets of Divine Cream & Youth Oil & Almond Milk Concentrate Body Cream
I also received 3 samples - Divine Cream (1.5ml) & Youth Oil (1ml) and also a sachet of Almond Milk Concentrate Body Cream (6ml).

I am really happy with my haul and goodie bag and I can't wait to try out all the products.

Degustabox Review - August 2014

I just received the August 2014 Degustabox.  Degustabox is the food equivalent of a monthly beauty box and costs £12.99 per month.  If you are interested in signing up you can check the details out here.  Here's more details of what was in this months box:
Degustabox Review - August 2014
Mexican Dave's Legendary Tortilla Chips (225g worth £1) - I do like tortilla chips to dip in salsa and guacamole, but sadly I haven't been able to taste these as they had burst open in the box.  I contacted Degustabox and they will send me another pack in next months box.
Degustabox Review - August 2014 Mexican Dave's Legendary Tortilla Chips
BerryWhite Organic Drinks (330ml worth £1.59) - these organic drinks are made from premium, organic ingredients with no added sugar or fruit sugars and no artificial preservatives.  I received the Goji Berries with Peaches, White Tea & Echinacea. I have tried this and it's got quite a weak taste which is ok, but I wouldn't rush out and buy another.
Degustabox Review - August 2014 BerryWhite Organic Drinks & Caribbean Twist Cocktails Strawberry Daiquiri & Cawston Press Kids Blend Apple & Pear Pressed Fruit Drink

Caribbean Twist Cocktails Strawberry Daiquiri (70cl worth £2.50) - A sparkling, strawberry & lime flavoured cocktail made with blended fermented alcohol with sugar and sweeteners.  This sounds perfect for a summer evening when the weather is hot (not sure if we have many more sunny days left this year, but you live in hope).

Cawston Press Kids Blend Apple & Pear Pressed Fruit Drink (200ml worth £1.63) - This juice is not from concentrate and there's no added sugar or anything artificial. This juice contains 40% water for a lighter juice drink which is perfect for kids.  I don't have any kids so tried this out myself and wasn't keen on the taste, it just didn't taste nice at all, I need sugar in my drink

Schwartz Flavour Shots (2x 52g worth £1.39 each) - These are recipe bases containing a unique blend of herbs, spices and seasonings infused in sunflower oil.  I can't cook to save my life, so these shots should make things easy for me. I will definitely give them a try.  I received Mexican Fajitas and Spanish Smoked Paprika Chicken flavours.
Degustabox Review - August 2014 Schwartz Flavour Shots
Lindt HELLO Just for You Heart Chocolate Tin (45g worth £3.49) - Contains Did contain 10 melt in your mouth Lindt milk chocolate hearts.  They were delicious (and lasted approximately 5 minutes after the box was opened).
Degustabox Review - August 2014 Degustabox Review - August 2014 Lindt HELLO Just for You Heart Chocolate Tin & Dr.Oetker Edible Wafer Cases
Dr.Oetker Edible Wafer Cases (Contains 6 cases worth £2.50) - You can eat these baking cases which is an interesting concept.  I will try them out next time I bake some cupcakes.  It says on the packaging that you do not need to use a cupcake tray, you can just place the cases onto a baking tray or sheet.

Brioche Pasquier Pain au Lait (8pack) and Pain au Chocolat (6pack) (£1.69 & £1.79) - I love pain au chocolat for breakfast, so these went down a treat. I just need to get some chocolate spread to use with the pain au laits, so that I can try them out.
Degustabox Review - August 2014 Brioche Pasquier Pain au Lait (8pack) and Pain au Chocolat (6pack)
There was also a coupon for Moma Breakfast Bircher Muesli multipack, which I have not had time to pick up (worth approx £2.99).

Overall this was not a bad box, not terribly exciting, but I will use everything in it and I haven't tried any of the products before.    If you are interested in trying out Degustabox my referral link is here (you can find a none referral link at the top of this post).

Have you tried Degustabox?

Memebox Special #13 Cooling Care

After buying my first Memebox I couldn't resist buying another. This time I bought Memebox Special #13 Cooling Care (It was very hot at the time and I thought it would be great to try while the weather was good).  This is the blurb on the website for this box.

Memebox Special #13 Cooling Care
Get ready for your ultimate summer getaway with this Cooling Box!

This box contains all the essential cooling summer products for the face, body and hair so that you can make the most of your sunny summer getaway! Pamper and soothe overheated skin with products that instantly cool and calm sun damaged skin and also repair the skin from excessive sun exposure!

Be sure to boost your beauty bag with these innovative cooling summer goodies that’ll sure make your hot summer the coolest summer yet! We promise.

I was really pleased with this box as it only cost me $14.99 (£8.93) which I don't think is bad for 5 full size products.  I got $15 off in discounts with this box so it's worth looking out for any discounts before purchasing.  This box included the following:
Memebox Special #13 Cooling Care The Skin House Aloe Water Mist

The Skin House Aloe Water Mist 80ml $11 Full Size
This is a fine spraying facial mist, this is packed with aloe moisture for delivering instant replenishment to dry or irritated skin.
Memebox Special #13 Cooling Care White Organia Aloe Vera Soothing Gel
White Organia Aloe Vera Soothing Gel 300g $5 Full Size
This is a moisture rich aloe vera soothing gel which effectively sooths and deeply hydrates dry or irritated skin, especially after being out in the sun.
Memebox Special #13 Cooling Care Secret Key Intense Ice Sleeping Pack
Secret Key Intense Ice Sleeping Pack 100g $22 Full Size
This is a sleeping pack for providing your skin with an immediate surge of moisture overnight. The menthol component and the super moist PH complex work to deliver a deeply moisturising, soothing and cooling effect when you wake up the next morning. With continuous use, it helps brighten up your complexion and maintain healthy skin balance.
Memebox Special #13 Cooling Care N.S.M. Exiting Snow Cooling Tint
Memebox Special #13 Cooling Care N.S.M. Exiting Snow Cooling Tint
N.S.M. Exiting Snow Cooling Tint $18 Full Size
The unique cooling tint from N.S.M glides smoothly and vividly onto your lips and literally holds the colourful radiance in place with a cooled refreshing feel that lasts for up to 30 minutes after application. The colour won’t fade even under water and will last all day long with a nice, refreshing fruity scent.  This smells gorgeous and it does feel cool on application.  This colour is a lovely coral which is a little bright for me. It drys matte which does tone down the colour somewhat.
Memebox Special #13 Cooling Care Awesome Aqua Whip Hug Foam Cleanser
Awesome Aqua Whip Hug Foam Cleanser 120ml $18 Full Size
This foam cleanser is made from the Canadian glaciers extremely pure and rich in minerals. The fine, soft, whip cream-like bubbles created from the cleanser are very gentle and effective in penetrating deep into your pores.

I can't believe I got all this for under £9.  It's a really great box and I can't wait to try the products as they are all new to me, which I guess is the point of getting beauty boxes from other countries.  These boxes are full of great looking products and the Asian Beauty market seems to be ahead of the British market in terms of new innovations.

This box is now sold out but there are loads of other boxes on the site that sound great so its worth checking them out to see if any take your fancy.  I would say that I will try and be good and not purchase anymore for awhile but I've got another box on the way (hangs head in shame while secretly desperate to check what's in the next box).

Have you tried any Memeboxes?

I bought this box with my own money.
