Last Minute Stocking Fillers - *AnySharp Pro Knife Sharpener

Image
*I received this product for free but the opinions are my own. Now I know what you are thinking why would I want a knife sharpener in my stocking on Christmas Day?  It's not a standard stocking filler I'll grant you that but I just love the colours on this one and honestly sometimes it's nice to get a mixture of products in the stocking. All joking aside this is a great little product.  I was kindly sent the AnySharp Pro Knife Sharpener* to try out and it's a great addition to my kitchen utensils.  I'm not the most natural of cooks, I wish I was, I love watching cooking shows but it's not something that I excel at, so anything that makes my life in the kitchen easier is a welcome addition.  I have to admit I didn't own a knife sharpener before this so I didn't have the sharpest of knives in the kitchen.  Using the AnySharp Pro Knife Sharpener is quick and easy, you just pull the blade through 2-3 times and you have a sharp knife again.  Now I have a set

Last Minute Stocking Fillers - *Solid Cologne UK - One for the Guys

Image
*I received this product for free but the opinions are my own. This stocking filler is for the guys so if you have a partner, brother, son or male friend and you aren't sure what to buy them for Christmas then this product might be the one for you.  I was sent a tin of Solid Cologne UK (SCUK) solid fragrance Sikandar to review.  I hadn't heard of this brand before and although I have seen solid fragrances for women, I haven't seen them for men.  You can read more about Solid Cologne UK  here.    Sikandar has fresh and citrusy top notes, followed by warm and spicy middle notes including geranium, cinnamon and cloves.  Base notes include sandalwood, vetiver, cedarwood and musk.  The ingredients are all natural and include Beeswax, Shea Butter and Jojoba Oil.  Overall it is a great scent, it smells amazing when you wear it and to be honest I would be tempted to buy it for myself not just as a gift for a guy.   The solid fragrance comes in a decreet little black tin that you

Life in Lockdown Part 3 - Keeping Myself Entertained

Image
Since we have been back in Lockdown again for 1 month I thought I would update you all on what I have been getting up to.  Mostly I have been binge watching entire series of some of my favourite old TV shows.   First of all I watched 5 seasons of The Originals on Netflix.  I had only watched 1 season in the past and then I somehow missed the other seasons. I don't know why this happened as I absolutely loved watching the whole thing in one go. The main draw is the bromance between vampire brothers Klaus & Elijah, but the other relationships are a big draw too.  I wholeheartedly recommend this series and if you don't tear up at the final ever episode then you need to have a good hard talk with yourself. Following on from the Originals, I got stuck into The Originals parent series The Vampire Diaries.  Sadly this has now disappeared from Netflix, so I had to buy the final couple of series on DVD to finish it off.  The bromance relationships are strong in this series as well,

*ColdZyme - A Product That Fights Against The Common Cold

Image
*I received this product for free but the opinions are my own. I don't know about you, but with everything in the world being about Covid-19 right now, I have almost forgotten about the common cold.  Coming into winter is a time when I usually suffer from colds the most and when I suffer from colds, I just want to crawl into bed and sleep until it's over with.  Being that we can't go out much at the moment, I have to say that I haven't really had many colds this year, but when I felt the first telltale symptoms that a cold was brewing (scratchy throat, runny nose that sort of thing), I reached for ColdZyme which is a product that can help prevent or shorten a common cold.  Since I have been using this product, I haven't suffered from a full blown cold at all. ColdZyme is a mouth spray that fights the cold virus which is the cause of a common cold. The mouth spray is so easy to use, you simply open your mouth and aim the nozzle of the spray towards your throat then p

*BIOGLAN Red Krill Oil 1000mg MAX Strength Supplement Review

Image
*I received this product for free but the opinions are my own. I was recently invited to try out the BIOGLAN Red Krill Oil 1000mg MAX Strength Supplements*. Part of the review was to undertake a blood test at the beginning and end of the 2 month trial in order to monitor any increases in my Omega-3 levels after taking the supplements. Krill Oil is more efficient than many other sources of Omega-3's.  These supplements contain pure Krill Oil sourced from the waters of the Antartic Ocean and is fully traceable and sustainable as certified by the Marine Stewardship Council. Krill Oil is naturally high in Omega-3 fatty acids and rich in Astaxanthin which is responsible for the red colour of the oil. Each capsule of Red Krill Oil 1000mg contains a highly absorbable form of DHA  (Docosahexaenoic acid)  to help support brain function and vision. The EPA (Eicosapentanoic acid) and DHA  together in Red Krill Oil help support the heart function. You need to take 1 capsule per day with wat

*Reverse Life Marine Collagen Liquid Supplement Review

Image
*I received this product for free but the opinions are my own. I have reached an age where I'm using supplements, not to combat the aging process, but help it go as smoothly as possible.  I don't think it hurts to help out our bodies and minds as much as we can  and help them stay as healthy and sharp as possible by taking supplements.  One of the products that I am using is Reverse Life Marine Collagen* a liquid supplement which I was kindly sent to try out.   You only need to take 25ml daily and there is a convenient cap that comes with it which measures it out for you and you can drink it directly from the cap.  It is responsibly sourced as well as being Gluten, fat and diary free. It includes Hyaluronic Acid, Biotin, Vitamins C, B12, B5 & B6. This product provides a 10,000mg dose of hydrolysed marine collagen per 25ml serving. The company states on their website that you will see a difference in as little as 2 weeks. The product can help enhance skin, nails and hair

Space NK N.DULGE Loyalty Card - Free Products

Image
I have to admit that one of my favourite stores to shop in is Space NK.  They sell a great range of high end beauty products and the people that work there are always friendly and helpful. They have a great loyalty programme too.  N.DULGE allows you to collect points as you shop. You get 1 point for every £1 spent and 100 points gets you a £5 reward to spend on products.  You can collect the rewards until you have enough to buy a product that you want to try or you can just knock £5 off your order as and when you receive your reward.  There is no minimum spend when you want to use your reward.  You can also collect points when you review products on their website. For each review you will receive 10 points and you can review 10 products per month. One of the best reasons to sign up for N.DULGE is the fab birthday gift that you can collect on your birthday (usually for a month after your actual birthday). I am lucky that there is a store in Leeds so I can pick up my birthday treat for f

I've Finally Found a Foundation That Suits My Skin

Image
After 20+ years and numerous samples I think that I have finally found my ideal foundation.  It's the right shade (no yellow undertones), it's the right consistency and it's the right coverage.  It ticks all the boxes and although it's a little more than I would usually spend (£36 for 35ml), considering all the foundations that I have purchased in the past and never used up, I think it's worth spending a little extra when you have found the one. My ideal foundation is (drumroll please): Estee Lauder  Futurist Hydra Rescue Moisturizing Makeup in the shade Fresco (2C3). Funnily enough even though I have now found my HG foundation, I haven't even bought a full size product yet as due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, I just haven't bothered wearing any makeup. I took the opportunity whilst on lockdown to go through all the makeup samples I have accumulated and whilst doing so happened upon this foundation that was an instant win for me as soon as I tried it.  M

*Oral-B Sensitivity & Gum Calm Toothpaste Review & Discount Code

Image
*I received this product for free but the opinions are my own. I was sent  Oral-B Sensitivity & Gum Calm Toothpaste to try out by Supersavvyme .     Now I have very sensitive teeth, hot and cold food can drive me crazy and to be honest even brushing my teeth can set my teeth on edge so this was a perfect product for me to try out.  Well all I can say is Wow!  The first time I tried this product out my teeth definitely weren't as sensitive and since starting to use this product regularly I have hardly noticed any sensitivity with my teeth.   One of the great things about this product (other that it stops my teeth feeling sensitive) is that it has a nice subtle minty taste and it doesn't give you that burning sensation in your mouth like a lot of other toothpastes do.  It also has a creamy fine foam which I like as well. 60% of people in the UK suffer with sensitive teeth and gum issues and only 5% of those are using the right toothpaste for their needs.  If you are one of

*The Squeeky Cleaners Organic Cleaning Products Multi-Purpose Cleaner Review

Image
*I received this product for free but the opinions are my own. Continuing  on with my aim to be more environmentally friendly I was given the chance to try out The Squeeky Cleaners Multi-Purpose Cleaner from their organic cleaning products range*.    This is a small but great way to reduce my plastic waste by using a reusable Aluminium Squeeky Life Bottle instead of continually purchasing new bottles of cleaning product.  I just wash the Squeeky Life Bottle and repurchase the concentrated cleaner when I need it. The Aluminium Squeeky Life Bottle comes with the cleaning product of your choice.  They have Multi-Purpose, Glass, Bathroom & Floor Cleaners as well as Surface Polish and Limescale Remover.  You need to use half of the concentrated cleaner, fill up with water, give it a quick shake and you are good to go.  It's that simple.  I wish cleaning my kitchen was that quick and easy.     You use this product as you would most other cleaning products.  Spray directly onto the su

Tips for Charity Shopping & Favourite Finds

Image
I like charity shopping, because it allows me to find quality pieces at an affordable price and it also allows me to pick up clothes that are out of my comfort zone, but are worth a try when you can pick them up for a couple of quid (maybe a bit more at some charity shops as they are not always cheap). It does take a bit of time and patience going through all the rails trying to find something that takes your fancy which comes in your size.  I think that if you are a smaller size, then charity shops can be amazing because you can sometimes find high end and even top designer pieces at really great prices.  If you are more of a bigger standard size, then you are in the majority and the pickings are not quite as easy to come by, but keep looking because those gems are out there waiting to be found.   First of all I wanted to give you a few quick tips for successful charity shopping (I apologise in advance for numbers 8-10 but they are critical. I saved them till last but be prepared to b

Life in Lockdown Part 2 - Keeping Myself Entertained

Image
First of all let me start off by saying I am one of the fortunate ones who was able to work from home when the lockdown started.  I have never worked from home before, but I found it easy to adapt and being able to avoid rush hour traffic on a daily basis has been just one of the upsides of the lockdown for me.  Saving money on petrol and parking are a few more (my food bills have gone up though, which is definitely one of the downsides).  That being said being forced to stay at home has meant that I have had to find ways to amuse myself outside of working hours and here are some of the things that I have been doing. Catching up on new and old TV shows & Films More time at home has given me the chance to work through my stash of TV shows that I have recorded.  Some of these episodes were recorded as far back as 2018 and have just been sitting there waiting for me to have time to watch them ( Xfiles Season 11, Blindspot and The Blacklist are just a few examples). I also found som

Life in Lockdown Part 1 (this post is mainly about food)

Image
These are some strange times that we are living in. One of the things I have tried to do during the enforced lockdown we had due to Covid-19 was to try and support local business.  A lot of businesses have been struggling due to the pandemic and supporting local businesses (even though they may be more expensive), feels like the right thing to do.   I must admit my online orders have reached a record high as I have been avoiding going to the supermarkets as much as possible as it is so hard to socially distance there.  Some of the small things I have been doing is getting weekly orders from my local farm shop. Yes it's dearer but the quality of the food is so much better then the supermarkets so it's worth the money.  My local farm shop now does a click and collect service where you can order online and arrange a date and time to pick up.  Then I just park up my car and open the boot and they pop the order in.  Initially while they did offer the click and collect option it had

I'm Back

Image
Wow when I took a break from my blog last year I didn't think it would be for this long, but life happened and a month long break stretched out and before you know it, it was 2020 and Covid-19 happened.  Very weird times and getting back into blogging just got put on the back burner while trying to adjust to the new world we are all living in.   Anyway with all the restrictions in place the time off has given me time to reflect and maybe reset things a bit.  I realised that over the last few years I have been spending without really needing to buy a lot of these things. I ended up with so many things that I don't need and will never use, that end up getting sold on eBay or donated to charity (or even worse thrown away because they have expired).   I have always wanted to pare back on things, but always get my head turned by new shiny things that catch my eye.  Now don't get me wrong, I am not on a no-spend, but I want to buy less and really think about the things I do buy -
