Love Lula Beauty Box May 2017

As this is my last Love Lula beauty box for a while I thought I would show you what I received this month.  I have decided to unsubscribe from all the beauty boxes at the moment as I have a big stash of products that I want to use and the mountain of beauty products that I have in my house just keeps increasing every month with each new beauty box.  I have really enjoyed all the beauty boxes that I subscribed to (Birchbox, You Beauty and Love Lula), but I just need to take a break so that I can get minimise the amount of new products that are coming in every month.  Here's what was in this months Love Lula box.
Ogario London Styling Mist (this is a full size 60ml product worth £16) - This boosts volume and control and contains lemon zest and oats to keep hair shiny and strengthened. Laidbare DIY Two in One Cleanser & Toner (this is a full size 125ml worth £6.99) - I haven't come across this type of 2 in 1 product before so it will be interesting to see how well it works and …

Primark Metallic Makeup Collection Haul

As usual I couldn't resist picking up a few things when I popped into Primark.  Their Makeup range has really upped it's game over the last year or so.  I love the gorgeous metallic makeup that's in store at the moment.  I couldn't stop putting things in my basket.
First up is the PS Precious Metals Nail Polish.  I loved these as soon as I saw them and when I tried them on at home they were as good as they looked.  The colours are:

Groupie is a dark bronze colour Starstruck is a copper colour
Rock N Gold is a pale gold colour

They all needed 2 coats to look opaque and they look fantastic.  They cost £1.50 each (total bargain) for 10.5ml, but look like they are from a premium range. I think these will look great  all year round.

Next I bought 2 PS Precious Metals Liquid Eyeshadows which were £2 each. I bought Copper Dip and Molton Gold which are both lovely colours.  They really do stick to your eyelid and don't smudge straight away like many liquid eyeshadows.  When I di…

Next Blend & Create Eau De Toilette

I recently picked up a couple of free sample perfume layering sets at Next.  There are 6 fragrances designed to be worn on their own or layered with each other.  I think this is a great idea and it was nice to see they were offering some free samples so that you can try it out before you commit to buying. There are at least 6 different fragrances available online and in store and I got 5 of them in the little sample kits.  The fragrances are: Aqua - described as Sparkling Ozonic & Powdery Musks Floral Rose - Rose, Jasmine & Muguet Amber Woods - Sandalwood Amber & Orris Fresh Green - Violet Leaf, Apple & Pear Citrus Zest - Bergamot, Green Tea & Lemon Sweet Fruits - Vanilla, Caramel & Cassis (this fragrance wasn't included in the sample set). There are suggestions on layering the scents on the back of the pack which is helpful, but of course you could just freestyle and try out your own combinations.  You can buy the 6 Piece Fragrance Layering Set for £20 (6x 15ml ED…

You Beauty Box May 2017

As this is the last You Beauty Box that I am going to receive for a while I thought I would do a quick review.  I am stopping my subscription in order to try and use up my huge stash of products and even though this box is great value, I just don't need any more products coming in at the moment.  I have been subscribing to various beauty boxes for at least 3 years, so I have built up quite a stash just from them, so I thought it was time to give them all a rest.
This months You Beauty Box is called The Global Edit and the selection contained favourite beauty products from around the world.  I picked Indeed Laboratories 10balm Soothing Cream which was a full size 30ml (valued at £19.99).  This is a nourishing cream developed specifically for distressed and sensitive skin.  I also picked Resultime Hydrating Cream which contains Hyaluronic Acid and Shea Butter to nourish and hydrate.  This was a 15ml travel size (worth £13.50).  Finally, the extra treats in the box were 3 sample sache…

YoungHair The Root Fix Temporary Root Cover

I recently had the opportunity to try out YoungHair The Root Fix Temporary Root Cover*.  I had not come across the YoungHair brand before, but it is a small family-owned business started in Sweden.  The family has 50 years of experience working with hair in a salon in a small coastal town in Sweden.
I have dark brown hair, with a patch of grey right on my centre parting which can be very inconvenient.  I regularly colour my hair at home, but there is usually a couple of centimetres of grey around my parting before I recolour my hair, so I was very glad to try out this product.  It's a waterproof colour spray that gently and temporarily covers grey hair and growth.  It's a quick fix that gradually disappears after the first wash.
It's simple to apply by spraying onto dry hair close to the roots and it dries fast and is non-sticky.  Once I sprayed it onto my hair I found that it did cover the grey and blended in very well to give a natural finish.  It did not look obvious that…

Footner CoolActive Masssager & Nailner Treat & Colour Review

I was recently sent the Footner CoolActive Massager* to review.  This came at the right time as I have quite a few aches and pains in my feet at the moment, so I was looking forward to trying it out, especially with the unusually hot days we have been having this Spring.  The Footner CoolActive Massager is a roller ball massager with a cool foam that comes out of the massager when you press the roller ball down.  You massage each foot for at least 2 minutes, pressing down for more foam as you need it.  This is great for when I've been at work all day or after I've been out for a long walk on an evening.  It cools down my feet and the massage is really nice and relaxing, so it's a lovely way to wind down in the evening.  I also have pains in one of my heels at the moment and it really helps make my heel feel more comfortable when I massage it with this product.
The Footner CoolActive Massager is currently £24.99 and is available at Boots. It provides up to 90 applications.

Barry M Molten Metal Nail Paint

I love metallic nails, so when I heard about Barry M Molten Metal Nail Paint I just knew I had to check them out.  After seeing swatches online I bought them all as they all looked so fantastic. I bought the Barry M Molten Metal Nail Paints from Superdrug as there was a 3 for 2 offer on and also a free tote bag when you purchased 3 products.  The nail polishes were £3.99 each. I have never owned a holographic nail polish before so I bought 2 of the Holographic Lights as the colour is so amazing.  This is so pretty I can't even describe it.  It has such a shiny finish and loads of shimmery fine particles and the colour is like a faint oil slick.  I needed to apply 3 coats of this polish for full coverage, but it dried really fast.
Black Diamond is metallic black with fine gold and silver shimmery particles.  I don't usually wear dark nail polish as I am usually too impatient to sit still long enough for it to dry, but this polish dry's really quickly and only needs 1 or 2 coat…

PHB Brightening Hand Cream

I go through a lot of hand cream.  I have dry hands, so I carry hand cream in my bag and also have some with me at work or in the car, so I always like to check out different brands.  The hand cream that I am loving right now is PHB Brightening Hand Cream with Neroli and Ylang Ylang.  PHB stands for Pure. Handmade. British.  It has a strong uplifting fragrance, which is perfect to use throughout the day and the organic butters make it rich and creamy and luxurious.  It sinks into the skin straight away and does not leave a greasy residue behind.  My hands feel instantly softer and look brighter. PHB Brightening Hand Cream is handmade in the UK and is organic.  PHB products are cruelty free and the ingredients have not been tested on animals.  Their products are Certified Natural, Vegan and Halal.  It's free from parabens, artificial fragrances & colours, petrochemicals, formaldehyde, mineral oils and palm oil.
PHB Ethical Beauty is a British family business that produces an awar…

The Hero Project

I was very happy to be sent some samples from The Hero Project recently. The Hero Project is a relatively new British company whose mission is to solve our beauty problems and find out what skincare lovers really want in order to produce products that fit that need.  They want to give us consumers products that really work and help us reduce our mega stashes of beauty products.  It's like a capsule wardrobe of skincare.  So far they have only made 6 products and I was sent 3 of them to try. Hyasoft Instant Moisture Boost* - £19 for 30ml
This is a clear oil free moisturiser which can be applied morning and night, by itself or before your day and night cream.  It's a gel formula which is fragrance free and absorbs into my skin quickly without leaving a greasy residue.  It leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth with no dry areas.  The active ingredients are multi-moleculer Hyaluronic Acid and Panthenol (Vitamin B5).

Glow Drops Dry Touch Facial Oil*- £24 for 30ml This oil is a blend o…

The Ordinary Skincare Haul

I have heard so much about The Ordinary that I had to order some of their products for myself.  The Ordinary is a Brand from DECIEM that also includes NIOD and Fountain amongst others.  The Ordinary is about clinical formulations with integrity and brings to market effective technologies at honourable prices.
All DECIEM products including The Ordinary are free from parabens, sulphates, Mineral Oil and formaldehyde.  They do not test on animals and do not pay others to do so and none of their brands are sold in mainland China (source The Ordinary website).
I bought 5 products from The Ordinary:
Vitamin C Suspension 23% + HA Spheres 2%(with 23% pure L-Ascorbic Acid and 2% Hyaluronic Acid Spheres) - This product visibly targets uneven tone and signs of age and should be applied to face in the morning or evening.  It's fragrance and silicone free.  It's £4.90 for 30ml.
Azelaic Acid Suspension 10%.  This is a multifunctional brightening formula, that visibly targets uneven tone, dullne…

My Trusty Skincare from the NHS

It's always nice to find skincare products that have a purpose other than just caring for our skin, so I was happy to receive a box of My Trusty Skincare* to try out.  It came in a cute metal box with a cross on the front which kind of makes it look like a first aid kit.  My Trusty Skincare is a unique sunflower oil based skincare range that was developed and tested by the Salisbury NHS Foundation, who were dissatisfied with the products that were generally available.  My Trusty is the first NHS skincare range that is now available to buy from supermarkets and pharmacies nationwide.  It's also available at Superdrug.  The best bit is that the profits from every purchase go straight back into the NHS.
The natural sunflower oil formula is a rich source of Vitamin E, F and essential fatty acids which intensively moisturise and nourish your skin.  The range is available fragrance free and also there is an essential oil range.  It does not contain parabens, SLS, lanolin or artificia…

Primark Haul - Part One - Makeup & Other Bits and Bobs

It's been ages since I have done a Primark haul and then like buses, you don't see any for a while and then 2 turn up at once.  I have done 2 (or maybe 3 whoops) hauls over the last couple of months after not visiting for quite a while.  It's mainly been makeup and bits and bobs rather than clothes and I must say I have been very impressed with their makeup and beauty offerings when I visited recently.  I don't think I have ever bought so much stuff from their makeup range ,but it just seems so great that I couldn't resist.  Here's some of the items I have bought recently.
I bought some false nails which have a great marble effect pattern, although I will probably take out my eye as they are so pointy.  They only cost £1.  I have way too many nail polishes, but I couldn't resist this lovely coral colour called Coral Pop for only 90p.  I also bought a brow fixing gel in light brown for £1.  I will be interested to see how these work as the prices are so low. I…

I have been trying out What Skin Needs Hydrating Facial Serum* for a few weeks now and I am really enjoying using it.  What Skin Needs is a company I hadn't heard of before.  It's a natural Australian Skincare brand designed to provide effective solutions for skin problems.  It uses a natural blend of vitamins and plant extracts providing beneficial and effective skincare solutions.  The key ingredient in What Skin Needs is Plantolin which is a patented herbal extract that heals and rejuvenates the skin.
What Skin Needs currently offers 4 products and I was lucky enough to be sent the Hydrating Facial Serum to try out.

The description on the website is below:

It's All About The Body - My Favourite Body Products

It's been a while since I wrote about my favourite face and eye products, so I thought I would write about my favourite body products.  These are the products that I am loving right now. Lush Snow Fairy - This deliciously sweet smelling shower gel is my absolute favourite, so I always stock up on it in the Boxing Day sales as it's only available at Christmas time (which appears to be from October these days). I stocked up on 2 1kg bottles which were half price in the sales and should last me until I can get my next stash.  Lush products are not tested on animals.

Optiat Pick Me Up Coffee Scrub Lemongrass Lifter- I got this in a You Beauty Box and it's such a great smelling scrub.  It smells of lemons and coffee which is a really refreshing combo and it's great for a morning shower.  It leaves my skin feeling soft and it's not a harsh scrub.  Optiat transform used coffee grounds into scented scrubs as the fine grounds act as a natural exfoliator and the Optiat Lemongr…
