10 Unmissable Things to Do in London

London is a city that never sleeps, never slows down, and never stops surprising you. Whether you're a first-time visitor or a seasoned local, there’s always something new to discover. Here are 10 things to do in London that will make your heart beat a little faster and your Instagram pop.

1. 🧀 Explore Borough Market

Nestled beneath the railway arches near London Bridge, Borough Market is a food lover’s paradise. With over 100 stalls offering everything from artisan cheeses to sizzling street food, it’s the perfect place to graze your way through global flavours.

2. 🎭 Catch a West End Show

London’s West End is the Broadway of Europe, and the line up is spectacular. Whether you’re belting out ABBA tunes at Mamma Mia!, crying through Les Misérables, or gasping at the magic of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, there’s a show for every mood. Book ahead for the best seats and prepare to be dazzled. I already have tickets for The Devil Wears Prada and Hadestown, and I can't wait to see them. Admittedly, tickets can be pricey, but I managed to get some great deals by going on less popular days like Monday, or by buying tickets with restricted views. I always buy seats in the stalls, and you can check the views using SeatPlan.

3. 🏰 Visit the Tower of London

History buffs, rejoice. The Tower of London offers tales of royalty, betrayal, and beheadings, all wrapped up in one iconic fortress. See the Crown Jewels, meet the Yeoman Warders, and maybe even spot a raven or two.

4. 🌳 Stroll Through Hyde Park

Take a break from the bustle and wander through Hyde Park. Rent a paddle boat on the Serpentine, visit the Princess Diana Memorial Fountain, or simply enjoy a picnic under the trees. It’s London’s green lung and a breath of fresh air.

5. 🖼️ Get Lost in the British Museum

Home to the Rosetta Stone, Egyptian mummies, and countless treasures from around the world, the British Museum is a cultural deep dive and it’s free. You could spend days here and still not see it all.

6. 🛍️ Shop on Oxford Street

Retail therapy, anyone? Oxford Street is packed with flagship stores, from Selfridges to Zara. For a more curated experience, head to nearby Carnaby Street or the luxury boutiques of Bond Street. If vintage and charity shopping is your thing, then look further afield at some of the wealthy London boroughs like Chelsea and Kensington.

7. 🚤 Cruise the Thames

Hop on a riverboat and see London from a whole new angle. Glide past landmarks like the London Eye, Big Ben, and the Shard. It’s scenic, relaxing, and surprisingly affordable.

8. 📸 Snap a Pic at Notting Hill

Colorful houses, quirky shops, and the famous Portobello Road Market make Notting Hill a photographer’s dream. Go on a Saturday for the full market experience, or just wander the charming streets.

9. 🍸 Sip Cocktails in Soho

When the sun goes down, Soho lights up. This buzzing neighborhood is packed with bars, clubs, and late-night eateries. Try a speakeasy-style cocktail bar or catch some live jazz at Ronnie Scott’s.

10. 🕍 Marvel at Westminster Abbey

A masterpiece of Gothic architecture and the site of royal coronations, weddings, and funerals, Westminster Abbey is steeped in history. Stand where kings and queens have stood and soak in the grandeur.

Whether you're here for the food, the theatre, or the timeless charm, London has a way of making every moment feel like a scene from a movie. So pack your curiosity and let the city unfold around you. 🎬
