Primark Vitamin Enriched Moisturising Primer Review - Bobbi Brown Dupe

**Reposted as the Primark Vitamin Enriched Moisturising Primer is  currently reduced to £2.50 from £4.50.

I picked up the Primark Vitamin Enriched Moisturising Primer because it looked like it was a dupe for the Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base. The Primark version costs £4.50 for 45ml and the Bobbi Brown Face Base costs £48.50 for 50ml, so there is quite a price difference.

Primark Vitamin Enriched Moisturising Primer Review

I had always wanted to try out the Bobbi Brown product, so when I received a mini version in a gift with purchase goody bag I was really excited to try it out, but I have to say I was somewhat underwhelmed.  I have quite dry skin and the face base did not have as much slip as I was expecting, so it didn't feel smooth when I applied my foundation. For the price I was expecting to love it way more than I did. It does have a lovely lemon smell which I really enjoy, where as the Primark version doesn't really have a fragrance.

Overall, I actually preferred the Primark version as it is thicker and it made for a better base for my foundation. It also seemed to be more hydrating. I have definitely reached more for the Primark primer since I purchased it and I rarely reach for the Bobbi Brown product as it just doesn't work for my dry skin.  The packaging of the Primark version is pretty similar to Bobbi Brown's version and it looks nearly as good as the more expensive packaging.

The Primark Primer contains Oat Oil, Shea Butter, Vitamin E, Vitamin C and Niacinamide whereas the Bobbi Brown Face Base contains Vitamin B, C & E, Shea Butter and Hyaluronic Acid. I will say that the Bobbi Brown product is recommended for normal to oily skin rather than dry skin, whereas the Primark product does not state any recommendations. Primark's is Vegan and Cruelty Free, Bobbi Brown's is free of Parabens, Phthalates, Sulfates, animal derived ingredients and Gluten.

Overall, I felt the Primark dupe worked better for my skin type and for the price, its a no-brainer to chose the Primark Vitamin Enriched Moisturising Primer.

  1. Fantastic post, how interesting that the BB one wasn't as good as you thought. I have been using the Lisa Armstrong moisturising primer (from Avon) which also has a lovely lemon smell but like you I need to prep my skin first because it's not enough on its own. xx
