To make your own beeswax wraps, you need to follow these instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 200 degrees. Cover your work area with Kraft paper or newspaper;
  2. Line a baking sheet with 1 piece of parchment paper. Place 1 square of fabric on the parchment paper with the pattern facing down;
  3. Grate the beeswax using a cheese grater, then measure 1/2 a cup of loosly packed, shredded beeswax;
  4. Distribute the beeswax evenly over the fabric. Making sure to reach the edges of the fabric;
  5. Place the baking sheet in the oven for 4-8 minutes. When the beeswax has melted completely, take out of the oven and spread the beeswax evenly across the fabric using the brush. The beeswax will be very hot so use caution during this step;
  6. Let cool, then hold, or clip the beeswax wrapper to a hanger to let air dry for a few minutes;
  7. Once dry, check the consistency of the beeswax on the material. If it is too thin, add more beeswax and repeat steps 5 and 6. If it is too thick, scrape some of the beeswax off and repeat steps 5 and 6.
You can use the beeswax wraps in place of cling film, foil or sandwich bags. In order to reuse the wraps, wash them in warm water with mild dish soap and air dry. When the wraps lose their cling, you can refresh them with more beeswax, following the steps above.

This is a great product which I can now use to take my sandwiches and snacks to work with me and helps me to save money by not having to buy cling film or foil.

You can buy the DIY Beeswax Wraps for £14.40 from here.
