My Trusty Skincare from the NHS

It's always nice to find skincare products that have a purpose other than just caring for our skin, so I was happy to receive a box of My Trusty Skincare* to try out.  It came in a cute metal box with a cross on the front which kind of makes it look like a first aid kit.
My Trusty Skincare from the NHS
My Trusty Skincare is a unique sunflower oil based skincare range that was developed and tested by the Salisbury NHS Foundation, who were dissatisfied with the products that were generally available.  My Trusty is the first NHS skincare range that is now available to buy from supermarkets and pharmacies nationwide.  It's also available at Superdrug.  The best bit is that the profits from every purchase go straight back into the NHS.

The natural sunflower oil formula is a rich source of Vitamin E, F and essential fatty acids which intensively moisturise and nourish your skin.  The range is available fragrance free and also there is an essential oil range.  It does not contain parabens, SLS, lanolin or artificial perfumes and the products all state that they are against animal testing.  Although it was originally developed to treat patients with burns and scars, it is suitable for dry, itchy and oily skin and is gentle enough for the whole family.  The range includes:

Sunflower Hand Cream (£4 for 100ml)
Sunflower Body Lotion (£6 for 250ml)
Sunflower Body Butter (£9 for 200ml)
Sunflower Face & Body Oil (£9 for 50ml)

The Sunflower Hand Cream (fragrance free and lavender) feels nice and rich and absorbs quickly into the skin without feeling greasy.  The lavender version has a light fragrance that is not overpowering.

The Sunflower Body Lotion (fragrance free and lavender) comes with a pump dispenser, but it's still nice and creamy and the lavender version does not overpower in the scent department.  It's ideal for dry, itchy, sensitive skin and can be used on the body and face.

The Sunflower Body Butter (Neroli, Bergamot & Orange) has a lovely subtle fragrance and I can definitely detect the orange.  It's lovely, rich and creamy and applies easily over the body, but it's  not greasy and sinks into the skin quickly leaving it feeling smooth, soft and hydrated.

The Sunflower Face & Body Oil (Neroli, Bergamot & Rosemary) is a light, non-greasy daily moisturiser that can be used under makeup and is also suitable to use as a night time moisturiser.  This also comes with a pump dispenser, so the product is easy to use and smells lovely.

Overall, I really like this range.  It's suitable for all skin types (including people that may be prone to eczema, psoriasis and rosacea).  I love the packaging as well with a bright yellow sunflower on the front.  If you have skin that needs some care then this range is definitely worth trying and as an added bonus you are giving something back to the NHS.

Have you tried the My Trusty Skincare range?
