Beautylish Original Lucky Bag 2021 Review - UK Purchaser

Beautylish Lucky Bags are mystery boxes full of beauty products including makeup and skincare.  I don't purchase any subscription boxes nowadays as I was just overloaded with products that I never use but I can't resist the Beautylish Lucky Bags.  They  are on offer once a year and it's nice to get a box full of surprises especially from America as a lot of the products are either brands we can't get over here or brands I haven't tried before.

The Original Lucky Bag costs $75 (approx £55) and includes at least $150 worth of products which is a good deal.  Obviously you don't know what you are getting but getting double the amount of surprise products is ok with me.    There is a Jeffree Star Lucky Bag as well but I'm not a big fan as there are a lot of outlandish colours in his collection and that's just not for me as I can't carry those colours off.  Beautylish also offer an XL Lucky Bag (and a Jeffree Star option) which costs $150 for $300+ worth of products but that is only available in the United States which is a blessing in disguise as I would be very tempted.  I bought my first box last year and was very happy with the contents so decided to try it again this year.

Beautylish Original Lucky Bag 2021
Here's what I got in my box in no particular order.

Good Molecules Pineapple Exfoliating Powder 60g $16 - I have tried Good Molecules products before as there was a product included in last years box and I also made an order from Beautylish to be delivered when I was in Orlando a couple of years ago (those were the days when we could travel anywhere we wanted).  It's a reasonably priced brand and I would put it on a par with The Ordinary.  I can't wait to try out this product as it's not one I've tried before.

Sonia G Flat Definer Make Up Brush $28 - This is not a brand I had heard of before (I thought it was called ONIA G at first glance) but this looks like a nice brush that I will definitely use.

Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Luxury Palette of Pops Colour Coded Eye Shadows $53 - This is probably my favourite product as I am a big fan of Charlotte Tilbury and have loads of her makeup and Pillow Talk is my favourite.  This was on my list of things to buy but I just hadn't got round to it yet so that was a happy coincidence.  The colours are stunning so I'm looking forward to trying this palette out.

Natasha Denona Chroma Crystal Liquid Eyeshadow in Shade Aubade $25 - This is a lovely metallic gold shade.  I have oily eyelids and eyeshadows tend to disappear pretty quickly so I usually prefer eyeshadow pencils/sticks like Laura Mercier, NARS or Charlotte Tilbury but this does look like a stunning colour so I will give it a go.

UOMA Beauty Black Magic Carnival Hypnotic Impact Metallic Shine Lipstick in Shade Bahia $26 - This is a stunning lipstick it comes in standout packaging in metallic red and then the lipstick itself has glitter gems on the outside of the bullet that look fab.  I thought at first that the shade would be too dark for me but it actually applies lighter then I thought it would and it gives an lovely iridescent shine on your lips.   This is another brand I hadn't heard of before but looks great.

Ardell Glamour Lashes 115 Black $4.20 - This was the cheapest item I got and unfortunately I'm not a big fan of false eyelashes (probably because I can't apply them very well).   On the odd occasion I try to apply lashes these would be just too glamorous for me, they are just too much so they will definitely be passed on to a friend.  I am not opposed to getting the cheaper items in the box as it's always great to have variety but these are just too over the top for me but I'm sure they are a great set of lashes for anyone that likes a bit of glamour.

The final item in my box is the Kit.sch cleanse ritual Crystal Facial Roller $24 - I have tried this type of product before and not really seen a difference. Being honest though I don't stick with it and just forget to use it. With it being a new year and all I will try this and use it regularly to see what happens as I'm up for trying anything non invasive that could help my skin.

Overall I am happy with this Lucky Box it's worth $176 (approx £128) so more than the estimated $150 and there is only 1 product that I definitely won't be keeping which was the cheapest one anyway.  I get this box more as a treat to myself then any expectation it will have the products that I really want and in my colour but this one is pretty good and I love getting a surprise at this time of year when it's dark outside and you wake up and start work in the dark and it's dark when you finish work (who am I kidding I love surprise items all year round).

The one thing to bear in mind is that there is delivery and customs on top so as well as the $75 there was also $15 Shipping and $18 duties and tax (that was for the UK).  I do like that Beautylish works that out for you when you buy the lucky Bag and you aren't hit with additional costs later on. It cost $108 in total which worked out at £81.75 all in when converted into pounds.  So you definitely need to take that into account before buying the Lucky Bag.  Will I buy one next year?  Yes I would.

I ordered the Lucky Bag on the 26th December and they estimated that I would receive it between 26th Jan and 1st Feb.  I received mine on the 21st Jan which was earlier than expected which is great and it comes well packaged and there is a tag with some info on Lucky Bags being a Japanese New Year custom.

You can sign up to be notified about the 2022 Lucky Bag here.

Let me know if you purchased a Lucky Bag and did you get anything different?
