US Drug Store Haul

I was in LA in October last year and I am still finding things in my stash that I bought when I was over there. Here's my final haul from US Drug stores including Walgreens and CVS.

Marc Anthony Strictly Curls Stretch - This product loosens and lengthens tight curls and cost $7.99 for 200ml.  I do think that this actually works as my curls are quite tight and after using this product they were a lot looser and frizz free.
These sparkly beauties are Covergirl Outlast Stay Brilliant Glosstinis in Seared Bronze and Pyro Pink.  I think they were part of a Hunger Games Catching Fire Collection. These were on offer buy one get one half price, so cost $3.99 & $1.99.
Maybelline Color Tattoo 24 hr eyeshadow in Bad to the Bronze. This is a great bronze colour that is perfect to sweep over your lids with no additional shading required. Easy peasy. This cost $3.90 as it was on offer.
I picked up Pink Armour Nail Gel in Ross Dress for Less for $6.99 - Its a quick and easy gel coat.  Strengthens and protects.  Repairs and restores. Promotes nail growth. Glossy Gel-Nail finish.  I am really trying to improve the condition of my nails at the moment and I am trying lots of different products. I haven't tried this one yet, so I will write a review once I have had a chance to use it.
Arm & Hammer Whitening Booster - 3x more whitening agent than a leading whitening strip - clinically proven to whiten in just 1 week. $7.99 for 70g. I have to say I have not noticed any definite whitening of my teeth, but I haven't finished this yet, so I will keep going and see if it makes any difference.
Essie Nail Polish - For the Twill of It - This cost $8.00 - this is a gorgeous metallic shade with teal, magenta and silvery flashes.
I love American drug stores as they always have great offers on.

Optrex Eye Revive Moisture Mist Review

I recently received Optrex Eye Revive Moisture Mist* free from BzzAgent to try out and review. Here's what I thought:

I wear both contact lenses and glasses (although not at the same time obviously!) and after a long day at work glued to my computer my eyes can get so tired and dry. When my eyes start to feel tired and strained I have been spraying
Optrex Eye Revive Moisture Mist on my eyelids and I have found that they instantly feel refreshed and cooled.  It also helps to keep the skin around my eyes moisturised.

I have found the Optrex Eye Revive Moisture Mist so easy to use, just close your eyes and spray over your eyelids.  Simple.  It doesn't smudge makeup and can be used with contact lenses.

Optrex Eye Revive Moisture Mist costs £15.99 for 10ml and lasts for 100 sprays.  This is definitely a product I will keep in my handbag to revive my tired eyes on the go.

Forever 21 Haul

I have just come home from a week in Paris (blog post to follow shortly) and I stayed a couple of days in London, so have a few haul posts to do.  The first one is Forever 21.  This is one of my favourite shops in America, so I am very happy that it has come to London.  I love their jewellery and the prices are really good, so I picked up a few pieces last week for the grand total of £13.05.  Here's what a bought:

The gold leaf earrings cost £2.00
The cross and stud earrings were £3.15
The glass cube earrings cost £2.00
 The flower earrings cost £2.00
The rose gold cross bracelet cost £3.90

I wish they had a store closer to home.

Benefit Gimme Brow Review

I really love this product and it is now one of my Holy Grail products.  I have to admit to having rubbish brows.  I'm not sure when it happened as I've never over plucked them, but one day I remember looking in the mirror and wondering where my eyebrows were. They have gaps and you can barely see them, they just aren't good I'm afraid. I was worried about using brow products as I didn't want them to be too obvious so I put off trying to find one, but I had £20 worth of Birchbox points to use up and decided to get Benefit Gimme Brow.  I had looked at Gimme Brow when I was in LA but they didn't have the colour I wanted, so I thought why not try it when I didn't have to part with cold hard cash.

Gimme Brow comes in a small bottle and has a small wand so its easy to apply to your brows.  I tend to be all fingers and thumbs when I'm applying things but after a couple of tries, I managed to get the hang of it and even though I do say so myself I thought my brows looked pretty good. I did get my sister to check out my brows to see if they looked natural as it was a bit of a shock to see my eyebrows so prominent after they have barely been noticeable for so long.  It felt like I had gone overboard with the product but she reassured me that they looked fine.

I have dark brown hair but I got the light/medium colour as I didn't think I could pull off a darker shade and it is definitely the right shade for me.  Its subtle, fills in the gaps and tames unruly hairs.   Its £17.50 in stores and although it is a lot of money I would definitely purchase it again as its a great product.

Max Factor X Lashfinity 3 Day Mascara Review

I bought Max Factor X Lashfinity 3 Day Mascara from Boots when there was an offer to spend a certain amount and get some free products, which I posted about here.  It was the only way I could justify spending £18.99 on a mascara.  I thought it would be a really great product to try out as I don't wear mascara through the week when I'm at work.  I tend to rub my eyes, so a mascara is not the best product for me to wear all day as I'm worried about ending up with panda eyes.  I thought that a 3 day mascara would be great as it wouldn't smudge as much. I've tried it 3 times now and to be honest it's an epic fail for me.

The product is in a slightly larger than normal mascara packaging with the mascara at one end and remover at the other end.  The bit you twist off, which has the mascara product in it is quite small and the mascara wand is pretty short (the brush itself is normal size). The mascara is easy to apply, but you have to do it quickly as you need a couple of coats and it dries fairly quickly.  Two of the times I've applied it, it went on fine, but the other time it did apply badly and looked clumpy on my eyelashes. Once on it does look ok, although nothing special in terms of lengthening my lashes. That's about all the positives I can give it as from there on in it was pretty bad.

I have hooded eyelids and found that it did smudge onto my eyelids , which I usually don't have a problem with when using mascara.  It also left smudges under my eyes throughout the day and I looked scary when I woke up the next morning, I was not a pretty sight as it had smudged all around my eyes (it definitely has the look of a morning after the night before if you know what I mean). At best the product was noticeable on my eyelashes for 2 days, but I couldn't see any mascara on the 3rd day.

In hindsight I'm not sure why I thought having mascara that lasted 3 days would be a good idea.  It's not as if it's hard to apply on a daily basis but I guess I thought there would be less smudging.  As I said before I'm always really worried at work that I will accidentally touch my eyes and I will be walking around with panda eyes without realising.  This product gave me the worst panda eyes possible.

The only saving grace is that the make up remover it comes with is brilliant for removing the residue around my eyes.  I just used a little on the end of a cotton bud and gently used it under my eyes and it disappeared straight away.

This is a product fail for me.  I will definitely be getting rid of this mascara. I'm gutted really as it cost so much, but I will be sticking to my usual mascara L'Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes which I love.

Have you used this product?  What did you think?

Birchbox Review - May 2014 - Harper's Bazaar Collaboration

I have just received the May Birchbox and colour me impressed.  It's a collaboration with Harper's Bazaar and I am really happy with the contents. Here's what I received:

This box suits me down to the ground and in all honesty there's only one product that I won't use.

My box contained:

Benefit They're Real Mascara (3g) - worth approx £6.88.  I haven't tried this mascara, so very happy to receive a travel size version which I will take with me when I travel.

Soigne Nail Lacquer -  This is full size worth £11.  This is a lovely bright orange colour called Persimmon which will be perfect for summer.  I love the packaging that this comes in and its free of formaldehyde.

Aromatherapy Associates Revive Morning Bath & Shower Oil - 3ml - worth approx £2.18 - I love putting these oils in my bath for a long soak and I already have a set from Christmas so happy to add to my collection.

Philip Kingsley One More Day Dry Shampoo - 50ml - worth approx £3.37 - this is the only product I don't really think that I will use as I have curly hair which is quite dry so I don't suffer from oily roots.

Laura Mercier Flawless Skin Face Polish -  11.3g - worth approx £2.36 - I can't wait to try this out as I really like Laura Mercier products.

The Lifestyle extra is Imedeen Derma One supplements. This is a 15 day supply worth approx £19. These supplements help combat the first signs of ageing.

All in all a great selection and I love the design on the box as well.

As this is a collaboration with Harper's Bazaar there is a subscription offer - £12 issues for £12 (saving 76%).  If you want to take advantage of this offer go to

TK Maxx Mini Haul

I picked up a couple of things in TK Maxx recently which I thought that I would share with you.

The first is WESTLAB Himalayan Salt - 1kg for £3.99.  I really want to try Himalayan Salts in my bath as I sometimes suffer from dry skin on my body, so I am hoping that this will help.

I have wanted to try a Konjac sponge for ages as they look really interesting, but never got round to picking one up.  When I saw one for £2.99 in TK Maxx I added it to my basket.  I will report back when I have tried it out.

This was just a small haul, but I am really happy with my purchases.

OMG I Didn't Realise How Many Perfumes I had (Part 2)

A long while ago I blogged about my current perfume collection here.  I'm not sure if I'm posting this to shame myself into using them more as I have so many, or just to have a chance to go back and smell them and remember why I bought them in the first place.  I love buying them, mostly in sales or duty free, but I don't like to have loads open at the same time so just end up having them on my shelves but never using them.  Anyway I'll post about the remainder of my collection and then if I really want to admit to my problem I'll post a photo of the box sets that are either under my bed and on top of my wardrobe (yes it really is that bad).

Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir Cologne 30ml - I had wanted to buy a Jo Malone Perfume for ages but whenever it came to parting with some cold hard cash I just couldn't do it.  Then I saw this one for sale on one of the swapping facebook pages and went for it and was really pleased that I did.  Its a strong scent so I just wear it on evenings out but I really like it.  The perfume contains juices of pomegranate, raspberry and plum which are spiked with pink pepper and laced with Casablanca lily and spicy woods.
Lacoste Eau De Lacoste roller ball 6ml - I think this was a freebie from the Lacoste facebook site when they released the perfume, but I'm not 100% sure.   I haven't used it yet but it smells nice and fresh so I'm going to take it on holiday with me.
The Body Shop Amber Oud 50ml -  I have used this a couple of times and its quite strong so I only use it on an evening out.  I cant find it on the Body Shop website so it looks like its not on sale anymore.  I think I bought it at one of their outlet shops a while ago for around £3-5.  I can't find any info on it as its not on sale anymore but its a strong smell which is quite musky.
Chloe 5ml and Love Chloe 5ml Mini Box set - I picked this up from Sephora for $12.  Even though I had both perfumes already I couldn't resist picking this up.  I honestly walk around that shop throwing things into my basket (although I do now run through my basket before checkout and remove some stuff dependent on how much I've spent, which I didn't do when I was younger as I couldn't help myself).  I reviewed Love on my previous perfume blog so I won't do it here.  The original Chloe is still one of my favourite perfumes although I don't have a full size bottle at the moment.  Its a very light and feminine perfume and just smelling this travel size reminds me how much I like it and want to buy a full size bottle (which wasn't really the point of this post, but never mind).  The top notes are peony, freesia and litchi followed by rose, lily of the valley and Caribbean magnolia, it is a floral scent that is then given depth by base notes of amber and Virginian cedar. There is also a hint of jasmine and honeysuckle.
Armani Code 3ml - This came from the Selfridges Advent Calendar.  This is a really nice floral scent and a nice size bottle to pop in my handbag.  I use this though the day.  If I didn't have so many I would by tempted to buy this in a full size bottle. Its a soft, floral scent, with top notes of African bitter orange and sweet Italian orange, flowing into Tunisian orange blossom absolute and jasmine sambac, with a base of orange blossom, vanilla and honey.
The Body Shop Atlas Mountain Rose Perfume Oil 15ml -
This is a concentrated perfume oil infused with Atlas Mountain Rose. This has a lovely light floral fragrance which I can wear anytime of day.  Its a great bottle to pop in your handbag to freshen up throughout the day or night.  I think this is another one that I bought at the Body Shop outlet. I can't remember the price.
Diesel Loverdose 7ml - Another one from the Selfridges Advent Calendar last year.  I haven't used it yet but its quite a nice scent.  This perfume is a floral/oriental fragrance with a gourmand base. It contains notes of mandarin, jasmine, liquorice and vanilla.
Juicy Couture Eau de Parfum Sprays Gift Set containing Couture Couture, Juicy Couture and Viva La Juicy all 10ml - I bought this set in Sephora as well for $35 and have used up the Viva La Juicy and started on the Couture Couture fragrance which I pop in my handbag.  I've already mentioned Viva La Juicy in my last perfume post so I wont bother here but it is really nice.  I've just sprayed Juicy Couture and it is quite a muted floral scent.  It has wild roses as the heart of the fragrance, with princess lily and tuberose. Passion fruit mingles with melon, marigold, apple, water hyacinth and crushed leaves. Couture Couture is really nice, light and fresh.    It combines the fruity tones of watermelon, pink passion fruit and green apple with the floral scents of princess lily, wild rose and precious woods.
Viktor&Rolf Flowerbomb Gift Set with 4 mini bottles 7ml.  I bought this box set in Duty Free and have already used up one on the mini bottles.  It has top notes of Osmanthus, Bergamot, Tea with heart notes of Jasmine, Orange Flower, Rose, Orchid and base notes of Musk, Patchouli.
My name is Leigh and I have a perfume addiction.  Here's a photo of some the perfume box sets that are currently unopened under my bed (there are more stashed throughout the house).  I am a tiny bit ashamed.
On the plus side since my last post I have used up a few of my perfumes including:

Chloe - Love

Versace - Vanitas x 1
Armani Code
