Primark False Nails Haul

I wanted to do a quick post on my Primark false nails haul as I'm loving them. They are only £1.  I repeat £1.  A bargain not to be missed I think. They come in a number of different colours and patterns and for the price they are really good value. I am still on my spending ban so these are ones I picked up a couple of months ago, but I wanted to share them with you especially if you are like me and have rubbish nails and are often too lazy to paint them. I think they are really pretty and can't wait to try them all. I use the self adhesive stickers (you can pick them up at the Pound Shop) but they do come with glue if you prefer to use that. Below is my collection of Primark false nails. My favourite is the one on the bottom left hand photo its a blue gradient nail with glitter on part of the nail.

All that lot for £6 BARGAIN!!!
What do you think? Have you tried any?

Kiko Haul

Last year I visited London and as luck would have it I went on the day that Kiko opened on Regent Street so it would have been rude not to visit it. I had come across Kiko on a visit to Rome a couple of years ago and really liked it. I couldn't believe how reasonable the prices were and picked up a couple of items (as you do). I was really pleased when I found out they were opening a store in London but to be honest I thought the prices would be higher as they always seem to be in the UK. I was surprised though as I thought the prices were really reasonable and I did go overboard on my purchases in London. I did a quick blog about them here last year. As it was only a quick post last time I thought I would show you a few swatches of the items I bought.

Ultra Glossy Stylo 812 Black Cherry - This is so glossy and easy to apply I love it. Its a medium mauve pink colour. I bought it for £4.90 although its now available online where they are currently on offer at £3.50.
Smart Lipstick 913 Rosewood - This applies really smoothly.  This is a dark rose pink colour. I bought it for £3.90 although its now available online where they are currently on offer at £2.50.
Smart Lipstick 918 Classic Rose - As above but this one is a dusky rose pink colour. I bought it for £3.90 although its now available online where they are currently on offer at £2.50.

Extra Volume Lipgloss 09 Pearly Antique Pink - A nice nude pink with sparkle. I bought it for £3 although online it is now £4.90.
Extra Volume Lipgloss 17 Pearly Red  - This looks bright red in the bottle but is not as bright on the lips and has some sparkle. I bought it for £3 although online it is now £4.90.
Extra Volume Lipgloss 20 Pearly Mauve - A nice mauve which has a deeper colour than the others with sparkle.  This is my favourite lipgloss. I bought it for £3 although online it is now £4.90.
Super Gloss 104 Dark Pearly Beige - This is a sparkly medium beige. I bought it for £3 although online it is now £4.90.

If you get a chance I would really recommend visiting Kiko as there is a really good range of products and the prices are really reasonable.  I have a few more products to swatch, so look out for another post soon.

I bought these with my own money and no links are sponsored.

St Grape Aqua Bliss Bath Scrub Product Review

I was lucky enough to win the St Grape Aqua Bliss Bath Scrub in a competition in December.  I have now been using it for the last month, so I thought it was about time that I reviewed this product.  First of all I should say that I have never heard of this brand before, so I was really interested in trying out this product.  Its 97% natural product (minimum of 3% liquid soap base).  Its made in Canada and 150g costs £12.00.  You can buy the product direct from their website here.
This scrub is made of very fine sea salt with oils including Jasmine Flower Oil, Rosa Damascena Flower Oil and Lavender Oil.  I like how fine this scrub is.  It feels effective in sloughing away dead skin, but its not abrasive or so coarse that it scratches the skin rather than buffs it like some scrubs.   I like the smell of this scrub, which is fresh and salty and not in any way overpowering. The scrub is easy to wash off and even though it contains oils, it does not leave a greasy residue behind.  Its quite a small tub, but I have to say a little goes a long way.

This is a handmade product and it is Sulfate, Petrochemical, Silicone, and Paraben Free with no artificial colours. No animal testing took place in the making of this product which is a major plus point for me.

I know its not important, but I like the box that it comes in, it would make a great present to give to someone.

I'm really glad that I got to try this product and I will certainly be interested in trying some more products from the range.

Just one word of warning when using this product, don't use it on any areas where you have any small cuts as it is literally like rubbing salt into a wound. It really does sting a bit. Other than that I give this product a big thumbs up.

Has anyone else tried any St Grape products?

I won this product in a competition, so did not pay for it, but I am under no obligation to review the product on my blog and the link is not sponsored in any way.

Birchbox Review - February 2014

Its always nice to receive a beauty box to open at the end of a hard day and Birchbox is one of  my favourites.  Its very rare that it disappoints and Februarys box is no exception.  The theme of this months box is We Love Your Style (inspired by London Fashion Week).  Here's what I received in my box.

Leighton Denny Nail Polish in the colour Meteor Match.  This is a full size product worth £11.  This is a shimmering pale marine colour injected with glitter.  This is a really nice colour, but it does take at least 3 coats to become opaque.

Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner in Black.  I already have this from a magazine freebie last year and I don't use liquid eyeliner so I will give this one to a friend.  This is just over half the size of the normal full size product and is worth approx £6.85 (based on full size retailing at £12).

Gilchrist & Soames Shower Gel 45ml.  In all honesty this looks like the sort or product you would get free at a hotel so its nothing special but I will use it. This is worth approx £2.60. Its a Paraben-free shower gel with Red Tea, Grape Seed and Milk Thistle that has a subtle yet refreshing scent.

Beauty Protector Protect & Oil nourishing hair oil. This product keeps hair healthy, shiny and happy. Beauty Protector Oil will guard against UV rays and heat, while it’s smoothing and strengthening qualities work tirelessly. It doesn't say how big this sample is, but I would estimate its around 10ml. The full size product is £16, but again I cannot find how big the full size product is so cannot estimate the value of this one.

Janjira Argan Oil Concentrate Serum. Youth boosting nutrients and firming oat extracts blend with argan oil to plump and protect skin. This is £48 for 30ml. Again, it doesn't state on the packaging how much product is in the sample, so I cannot estimate the value, but this product is pretty expensive so even if its only 5ml its a decent value.

Finally I received a Green & Blacks Organic Dark Chocolate with 70% cocoa solids. This is prefect timing as I have just completed my 30 day chocolate ban and I think I am going to start eating dark chocolate rather than milk chocolate as its much richer and you are less likely to eat too much of it.

I am excited about next months box as it is a collaboration with Lulu Guinness.

Heres my referral link if anyone is interested in subscribing I will receive 50 Birchbox points for anyone who subscribes using this link. Alternatively, heres the normal link to the website The monthly subscription is £10 per month plus £2.95 postage.

What did you get in your box?

The box also contained a bag of Beyond Dark Moments of Pleasure 70% dark chocolate Hints of Orange chocolate treats (just eaten them now and they were yummy) and a 20ml sachet of Charles Worthington Secrets Collection Volume & Bounce Instant Amplifying Volume Treatment. I wont use the volume treatment as I have thick curly hair which does not need any additional volume.

  • The Vintage Cosmetic Company Eyeshadow Brush
  • Stila Lip Glaze in Kaleidoscope
  • Jurlique Calendula Redness Rescue Smoothing Moisturising Cream
  • Mavala Nail Polish in Sapporo (nude) and Madrid (red)
This is a great value box and I was really happy with the choices that I made. I could easily have bought another box to pick 2 more items, but as I am still on a spending ban (excluding 1 Birchbox and 1 You Beauty box per month) I have resisted.

The You Beauty box costs £6.95 including p&p per month and you get to pick the 2 main items in your box. You can sign up here.

In addition to the monthly box, they also offer limited edition boxes throughout the year. They are currently selling the Highlights from 2013 box here which costs £19.95 and is worth over £90.

Primark Haul

I seem to have bought quite a few things from Primark over the last few months so I thought I would do a haul post. I like Primark as you can get some nice stuff fairly cheaply so it doesn't have to last too long and you don't get bored with it. I don't go in very often but when I do I always seem to get tempted to buy a decent amount and then I'm shocked when its totalled at the till as you seem to get so much for your money and that's even with prices increasing as I don't think it's as cheap as it used to be. This haul includes visits to the Leeds, London and Manchester stores.
Home Room Diffuser Vanilla & Coconut Creme - £3
Gloves - £8
Green Jumper - £10 (I also bought this jumper in black and red).
Red Bucket Bag - £8
Beige Bucket Bag - £8
Coat with faux leather sleeves - £25.  I spotted this in the Manchester store first and decided to be good and not buy it but then I kept thinking about it and regretted not buying it but of course I then couldn't find it anywhere.  I looked in Leeds, Wakefield and London.  Then the new Primark store opened in the Trinity Shopping Centre in Leeds and I finally found it and was so pleased I snapped it up straight away.
PJ's - £3 reduced from £5
Shorts - £2 reduced from £4
Top with lace panels on the shoulder - £6 I have this in black as well.  It reminded of a top I had seen in Zara but was way too short for me and when I saw them in Primark I loved them and am always getting complimented on them when I wear them.
Top - £6
Bag - £3 reduced from £6.  I already have this bag as I bought it for my holiday (paid full price) and it was great for throwing over my shoulder and carrying stuff around with me so when I saw it in the sale I couldn't resist.
Blue Cardigan - £14
Large Blue bag - £5 reduced from £8.  I think this will be an ideal bag for taking to the airport and carrying my items on the plane.
Purple Bag - £3 reduced from £6

Skull Belt - was priced at £3 but went through the till at £1.

Have you got anything from Primark lately?

Birchbox Review - January 2014

Here is my very belated Birchbox review.  This is the first Birchbox of 2014 and I am very happy with it.  It has some great products which I cant wait to try out.  The January box is based on Tiny Tweaks - focusing on some small daily changes that will make a big difference by year end.  This is what I received in my box.

First of all the Rodial Bee Venom Moisturiser which is 5ml and is worth £15 (full size retails at a whopping £150, so I think this will be the only time that I own this product, unless it performs miracles and makes a real difference to my skin).  I was very happy to receive this high end product. Honey Bee Venom works in synergy with a unique complex of plant stem cells to improve skin tone and elasticity.  I can't wait to try this product out.

If that wasn't enough there is also a Benefit product included this month.   Benefit The POREfessional is an award winning primer that magically erases pores and leaves skin velvety.   This product is already one of my favourite primers and I already have a few samples, but I am definitely happy to receive this in my box. This is 7.5ml and is worth £8.35.

After the above 2 products I wasn't expecting much from the rest of the box, so I was very impressed to see a Philip Kingsley product.  This is another brand that I really like and I haven't tried Moisture Balancing Conditioner, so I cant wait to try it.  This is 20ml and is worth £1.50

Next product is the Vasanti Detox Nutrient-Rich Purifying Facial Cleanser.  I have not heard of this brand before, so looking forward to using this. Its 20ml which is worth £2.40.

The last beauty product in the box was Premae Anatomy Nutrients Instant Renewal Body Oil.  Again this is another brand that I have not heard of, so I will try this out and review it. Its 20ml, worth £1.90

The lifestyle addition to the box is Itsu Miso Soup.  A light, healthy and tasty soup packed full of antioxidants and amino acids.  Squeeze the paste into a mug, add hot water and stir.  I received 1 sachet and they retail for £2.25 for 3.

Overall Birchbox is one of my favourite boxes as there is always something included that I have been wanting to try.  I love the addition of the Rodial product as I would never be able to afford to purchase it myself.

Did you like January's Birchbox?
