L'Occitane Haul

I thought I would share my recent L'Occitane haul.  I found a great voucher through facebook for a free gift and went in to collect it.   The free gift is the box in the photo below which is a lovely little set which includes the following:
  • Cherry Blossom Hand Cream 10ml
  • Dry Skin Foot Cream 10ml
  • Verbena Shower Gel & Body Lotion both 30ml
  • Soap with Verbena Leaves - 25g
  • A little sachet of grow your own lavender
L'Occitane Haul
I think that it's a really great little box especially as it was free.  The gift set also included a voucher for £10 off when you spend £25 or more.  Well I couldn't say no to that. Before I decided what I wanted to buy I was offered a hand and arm massage.  It was a really great massage and the products used were very nice. It was all very relaxing and a very nice treat.

In the end, I decided to buy the Nail and Cuticle Oil (7.5ml) which was £12 and was used during the hand massage.  It has a brush applicator which is a great idea.  I also bought the Pivoine Sublime Perfecting Mist (100ml) for £14. This looks like it will be a great way to refresh my skin on warm days (if we get any). With £10 off it came to £16 which I thought was a great deal.

I was also given a couple of samples - Milk Concentrate Body Lotion (6ml) and Devine Youth Oil (1ml).

I was really pleased with my haul and I will definitely be back as I have a little wish list of L'Occitane products that I want to try out.

What would you recommend from L'Occitane?

Broadway imPRESS Press-On Manicure False Nails

On my recent trip to London, I decided to try out some Broadway imPRESS Press-On Manicure false nails as my nails are so short at the moment. I think that I bought these particular ones in America, but you can get different patterns over here in Superdrug for £7.99 (although there is an offer on right now for £5.32 which is a third off).  You can also buy them in Boots, although they are all sold out online, so it would be worth checking out the larger Boots stores if you live near one.  The nails I used are so pretty, with a floral pattern on a white background (they don't have a name on the packaging just a code KL0625).
Broadway imPRESS Press-On Manicure False Nails
They are really easy to apply, just remove the plastic covering on the back of the nail and then press it onto your own nail. No glue is needed as they have a self adhesive on the back of the nails.  They stayed on for 4 days which is really good as I put them through quite a lot during the 4 days I wore them. They are very easy to remove, just peel them off your nails and there is no residue left over and they didn't damage my nails.

I will definitely be purchasing Broadway imPRESS Press-On Manicure false nails again.  They are great when you need a quick fix and don't have time to apply nail polish.  If you lack any talent for nail art (which totally describes myself), then these are the next best thing I think.

Do you use false nails?

My Weekend in London

I just spent some of the bank holiday weekend in London.  I had a great time and here are some of the highlights.

I went to see 2 shows - Gypsy at The Savoy Theatre - Imelda Staunton is fabulous as Momma Rose and pretty much carries the whole show, but the kid who plays Baby June in the first part of the show steals all her scenes, she was so funny and over the top.

I also went to see a play called American Buffalo starring Damien Lewis, John Goodman and Tom Sturridge at the Wyndam Theatre.  All the actors were on top form and it was a really interesting play. Definitely worth going to see.  It was so popular there were some people standing in the aisles.

I always take the opportunity to pop into Whole Foods when I am in London and I bought some Savse smoothies which I love (luckily they now do them at my local supermarket so I can get them whenever I want but its always nice to start the day healthily when I eat so much in London).  I also bought some bread and butter pudding which I really enjoyed when I got home.
Savse Smoothies
My favourite stores in London include & Other Stories and Forever 21 as we don't have them in Leeds.  The jewellery in both shops is really reasonably priced, so I bought a few pieces.
& Other Stories

Forever 21
I popped into the new Lush store on Oxford Street which is huge and although I was tempted to buy some things I managed to resist as I didn't want to carry them around with me all day.

I went to the Alexander McQueen exhibition at the V&A and it is well worth a visit. The clothes and accessories are amazing and there is an interesting narrative running through the whole exhibit.  Thank goodness I was never tempted by the bumsters (very low cut trousers and skirts.  The word bum cleavage springs to mind) back in the day as nobody needs to see that much of my arse.   Kate Moss makes an appearance near the end in a very interesting way.  I will say no more as I don't want to spoil it for anyone. This was well worth the £17.50 entrance fee, but booking in advance is a must as it was very busy.
Alexander McQueen V&A Exhibit
I happened upon The Hummingbird Bakery on Wardour Street and all I will say is the Salted Caramel Cupcakes are to die for.  I can also heartily recommend the Chocolate Orange ones as well.
The Hummingbird Bakery
We went over to Borough Market to check out the wonderful food on offer and I bought a Salted Caramel and Honeycombe doughnut from Bread Ahead Bakery. It was delicious and there was so much filling in the centre it was crazy.  I would make the trip to Borough Market just to pick up one of these fab doughnuts.
Bake Ahead Bakery
I popped into Choccywockydoodah just off Carnaby Street to buy a milk chocolate marshmallow lolly for £9.99.  Definitely recommend that.
Choccywockydodah
I had a £10 voucher to spend in Liberty, so I bought the Aveda Be Curly Curl Controller which cost £20 (£10 with the voucher). I will review this when I have used it.
Aveda Curl Cream
We had a chance to check out a couple of museums while we were down there. The V&A whilst we were waiting for our time slot for the McQueen exhibition and also The British Museum when were took the chance to view the controversial Elgin Marbles (AKA The Parthenon Sculptures).  I have been to these museums many times before, but there always seems to be something new to see everytime.

I loved our meal at The Spaghetti House.  We had the Spaghetti Bolognese La Spaghettata to share which cost £18.95 and is literally enough to feed a family of 4. We also had SmokeShack Cheeseburgers at The Shake Shack which were delicious.

I stayed at The Premier Inn Euston which cost £100.  It's within walking distance of Oxford Street and very close to Kings Cross and Euston which makes getting around very easy.

I used my Oyster card to travel around on the tube which saves money as I paid a maximum of £6.40 per day. We did have a problem when the fire alarm went off at one station just as we were about to exit.  As all the barriers opened we didn't scan our Oyster cards.  When we went back to carry on our journey, the money on the cards had gone down more than it should.  Turned out we had been charged an extra £5.20 as we did not scan out.  We didn't realise this until later in the day when we ran out of money on the card and had to add some more on.  You can check the card history on the ticket machines to find this out. A helpful member of staff at Kings Cross tried to refund us via the ticket machines, but it would not work as we had used the card after the extra charge had been added.  We had to queue at the ticket office to get a refund in the end, which luckily wasn't as busy as normal and when we got served it literally took seconds to recredit the cards.   I am not sure in an emergency situation that I would always remember to scan out at the barriers, but it was easy enough to get the money recredited back to the card in the end.

I definitely fancy trying out The Hershesons Braid Bar at Top Shop on Oxford Street. It's £15 for 15 minutes.  I also want to try out Blow Ltd in Covent Garden for a blow dry, manicure and make-up.
Hershesons Braid Bar
To finish, I just thought I would add a photo from the window display for Make Up For Ever at Debenhams.  Make Up For Ever has just landed in the UK and is exclusive to Debenhams.  To promote it they were doing body painting on some models.  It was hard to get a photo through the window, so here's the best one I managed to take.  I didn't have any time to browse, but I did pick up a leaflet about makeup lessons and applications which I would definitely like to try next time.  Prices start from £15 for a makeup application focusing on one area to £50 for a Sophisticated makeup look lesson.  Prices are redeemable against Make Up For Ever products on the day of the appointment.
Make Up For Ever UK

Wow I can't believe I fit so much into 2 days.  There's still so many other places I want to visit so I'm going back in a couple of months.  Any recommendations?

The Netflix Tag

When I saw the Netflix Tag I couldn't wait to get involved as I love, love, love TV and I really love Netflix as it means that I can binge watch some of my favourite shows.  This is the first tag that I have been involved with so thanks to Vicky over at beingtillysmummy for tagging me.  I have had Netflix since last year, primarily because I wanted to watch Arrested Development Season 4 which was only available on Netflix and also because all the seasons of Breaking Bad were available, so I decided to finally find out what all the fuss was about that show.  I have found some great shows and films to watch on Netflix so the £5.99 charge per month is a bargain as far as I am concerned.

Anyway lets get on with the questions.

All Time Favourite
This is an easy one although I do have 2 answers.  My favourite TV show is most definitely The Killing (the US version).  I binge watched the whole 4 seasons worth of 44 episodes in 1 week and I was so addicted to it and enjoyed it so much that I have already started rewatching the first season.  I think what drew me in at first was the partnership of the 2 main characters who are so mismatched but totally work.  I reviewed the show here.

My favourite film on Netflix is definitely In Your Eyes.  It was one of those films that appears in your list of things you might want to watch when you log onto Netflix.  I totally ignored it as I had never heard of it and I read the description and it didn't grab me.  I must have been bored one day, so I started watching it and I stayed up late (on a work night no less) to finish watching it.  It's a romance between two totally mismatched characters who don't even meet in person until the last scene in the movie.  I have watched it at least 10 times since because I love it so much.  The chemistry between the 2 leads is amazing, especially as they hardly share any screen time.  See my review of the movie here.

Current Addiction
I am really enjoying Life Unexpected about a teenager who was brought up in foster care finally reconnecting with her birth parents.  It's really funny and interesting and the main character Lux is almost more of an adult than her 30 something parents.

Wish List
There are so many shows that I would love to binge watch on Netflix including True Blood, Scandal and Hart of Dixie to name a few.

Pet Peeve
I hate the page that lists all the shows you might be interested in, because so many of them are repeated in different lists.

Marathon Essentials
Comfy pjs, a bottle of Pepsi and some snacks are all I need for a night of binge watching.

What's on your watch list?
So much stuff.  I still haven't got around to watching more than the first season of Breaking Bad and I also want to watch Better Call Saul when I have finished BB. There is also Daredevil, Only God Forgives, Pretty Little Liars, Bloodline, House of Cards, Orange Is The New Black Season 3 when its available in June and White Collar to name a few.

You Should Watch
The Killing, Homeland, Friday Night Lights, Arrested Development, Orange Is The New Black, The Vampire Diaries, The Originals, Blackfish, The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, In Your Eyes, A Long Way Down, Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Firefly.

WAH London Nail Polish in Private Plane Review

One of the reasons that I keep subscribing to beauty boxes is the chance to try out brands that I haven't come across before.  One such brand is WAH London Nail Polish which I recently received in a Birchbox.

I received the shade Private Plane which is a pastel baby blue colour that I think is perfect for summer. You only need to apply 2 coats for the perfect coverage and it dries pretty quickly which is always a plus for me, as I find it hard to sit still long enough for my nail polish to dry and end up smudging at least one nail. I did apply a top coat and the polish lasted for 2 days before chipping.  This is pretty normal for me as I am quite hard on nail polish especially as I have my own horse, so my nails get quite dirty and grubby when I am grooming or washing my horse.

WAH London Nail Polish in Private Plane Review

WAH Nails is all about nail art and started life in East London and was founded by Sharmadean Reid.  There is now a branch in Topshop Oxford Circus in London so I can't wait to go there next time I am in London.  You can also buy the range in Boots (the nail polishes are £9).

Have you tried any WAH nail polishes?

Top 5 - Places I Want To Visit

I have been lucky enough to travel to a number of wonderful places over the last few years, some of which I have posted about here.  I didn't travel abroad until I was about 19 when I went to Corfu with my sister and friends and since then I haven't looked back.  I have mainly visited America over the years but I've been to a few other places as well.  The only down side to travelling for me is that I get travel sick which is awful and a big pain in the bum (first world problems and all I know). Other than that I really love to travel and there are so many places I would love to return to as well as places I haven't visited yet, but like most people it's having the time and mainly the money to be able to go on holiday (I keep hoping for that lottery win).  As I can't visit them at the moment I thought I would do a blog post on them and maybe it will inspire me to get my act together and make a plan to visit some of them soon. Here's the top 5 places I would like to visit.
Washington DC
Washington DC
I love watching shows like Scandal, Bones and The West Wing (when it was on a few years ago).  I think this is why I've been wanting to visit Washington DC. There's so much to see and do -  The White House, The Smithsonian Museums, Georgetown and the many monuments and government buildings. There seems to be loads to do there so it's a place I would like to visit at some point.
Niagara Falls
Canada - Toronto & Vancouver
I've wanted to visit Canada for so long and I've heard such good things about Toronto and Vancouver so I would love to visit.  I have heard the food and shopping is great in Toronto and it would be rude not to visit Niagara Falls which is around a 90 minute drive away. I've put Vancouver on the list as a lot of films and TV shows are filmed over there and it looks like somewhere worth visiting.
San Francisco
San Francisco
There's plenty to see and do in San Francisco so I can't wait to visit.  I'm going back to LA this year so I may try to fit in a few days here as well as I've heard so many good things about it.  There's Alcatraz, The Golden Gate Bridge & Fisherman's Wharf. I've heard the food is great here as well.
Miami
Miami
Miami appears in loads of films and looks a fab place to visit.  It's got the sun, sand and sea, the Art Deco, it just looks so cool and I would love to visit.  I've heard it also has some great places to shop as well (do you sense a theme yet).
Barcelona
Barcelona
I have been on some really great City trips over the years such as New York, Paris & Rome, but I've never been to Spain so I thought it would be interesting to check out Barcelona.

Those are just a few of the places I would like to visit.  Do you have any recommendations of places to visit?

Empties Post

I have finished a few products over the last few weeks so thought I would do my first empties post for 2015.
Empties Post
The Body Shop Cocoa Butter Beautifying Oil for Body, Face and Hair - I loved this oil. I used it on my body morning and night and it really moisturised my skin and wasn't greasy.  It smells devine as well.  I would definitely repurchase.  It's £9 for 100ml.

The Body Shop Moringa Body Mist - Another Body Shop product I've used up. This has a nice light fragrance that is perfect for summer.  I would buy this again.  It's £7.50 for 100ml.

Victoria's Secret Fabulous Body Mist - I bought this in America where I got a great deal on it as it was $10 instead of the usual $25.  I think it's around £22 in the UK. It's a really nice fragrance and I would repurchase it if I could get a good deal on it again.

Eau Thermale Avene Micellar Lotion - I prefer this to Bioderma as I find it removes my eye makeup better then Bioderma does.  I would repurchase this. It's £12.50 for 200ml.

Macadamia Healing Oil Treatment - This had no affect on my curly hair so I would not repurchase.  It's £26.95 for 125ml.
Dr.Jart+ Premium BB & Josie Maran Argan Cleansing Oil
Dr.Jart+ Premium Beauty Balm SPF40 - I bought this in a box set from Sephora.  It left my skin looking and feeling great so I would definitely buy it again.  It's usually £24 for 40ml, but is currently on offer at Boots for £12.

Josie Maran Argan Cleansing Oil - Another product I bought in a boxset from Sephora. This was a really nice thick cleansing oil which smells wonderfully fruity.  It cleansed my skin well and I would repurchase if it's available in the UK.  It's $32 for 180ml (I can't find this brand sold in the UK).
Aromatherapy Associates
Aromatherapy Associates Bath and Shower Oil - I bought these oils in a box set in the New Year Sales.  Each oil makes for a lovely relaxing bath.  I will definitely be buying some more of the oils next time they are on offer.  You can buy a set of 10 minature bath and shower oils for £39 here.

I am really trying to make an effort to use up my products rather than buy loads of new ones.  It doesn't always work, but I'm managing to get through a fair few which I'm very pleased about.  There are definitely a number of products I would repurchase but only when I use up more of my massive stash.

YSL Volupte Tint-In-Oil Peach Me Love Review

I recently bought YSL Volupte Tint-In-Oil  Peach Me Love (well I say bought, I actually used Boots Advantage Card Points Wayhey!!!), so I thought I would do a quick review.  There were some really nice colours to choose from but I picked Peach Me Love as it is a lovely peachy pink shade.  It looks really peachy on the applicator, although I will say that it only appears pink on my lips and if I swatch it on the back of my hand.  That's ok though, as it is still a really pretty pink shade.  It's the sort of gloss that enhances your lip colour without covering it up entirely and as soon as I applied the gloss my lips felt smoother, but the gloss is not sticky which is great.
YSL Volupte Tint-In-Oil Peach Me Love

YSL Volupte Tint-In-Oil Peach Me Love
It smells and tastes a little bit fruity on application and the applicator makes it really easy to apply the lip oil.  YSL Volupte Tint-In-Oil is a very lightweight lip oil which contains 4 essential oils - apricot kernal oil, coriander fruit oil, jojoba seed oil and possiflora edulis seed oil.  I have to say that this lip oil does not last long especially if you are eating and drinking, but it does leave a nice pink stain on your lips.

You can buy YSL Volupte Tint-In-Oil from Boots for £23.50.  It's expensive, but worth it if you want to treat yourself.  I will definitely be buying more to add to my collection.

What do you think of YSL Volupte Tint-In-Oils?

The Library of Fragrance Sunshine Cologne Spray Review

I was recently sent a bottle of The Library of Fragrance Sunshine Cologne Spray to review.  It was really hard to choose which one I wanted to try out as there are so many that appeal to me. These are the ones that piqued my interest.
  • Sunshine
  • Salt Air
  • Fresh Coconut (I hope this one evokes summer holidays)
  • Stable (sounds weird I know, but I love the smell of horses so I am interested to see how it translates into a fragrance)
  • Clean Skin
  • Snow
Sunshine was top of my list so I was really pleased when it arrived.  It was very appropriate as it came during the mini heatwave we recently had.
The Library of Fragrance Sunshine Cologne Spray
Here's how Sunshine is described:  What does our Sunshine smell like? Think of your favourite, most comfortable cotton T-Shirt, warmed by the sun and summer skin, with just a hint of suntan lotion.

I like the description and I really love the smell of Sunshine as it evokes memories of hot summer days.  It's fresh and warm and puts me in a good mood just by smelling it. It's a light scent which is very wearable and just needs respraying a couple of times throughout the day.   I'm really pleased I received Sunshine as it is a great scent to start out with.  I will definitely be looking to buy some more from this range.

The Library of Fragrance Cologne Sprays cost £15 for 30ml and 28 of the most popular scents are available in 400 Boots stores nationwide and also online. There is currently a 2 for £25 offer on at the moment instore and online.  The full collection of 101 scents is available to buy direct from The Library of Fragrance website.

You can also layer the scents and it is suggested that Sunshine works really well with Grass and/or Peach Colognes.  Details of how to layer the scents can be found here.  I tried the Grass and Sunshine combo recently in Boots and they really work well together (Grass is pretty nice on its own as well).

I have to say that there are some weird and wonderful scents to try out in this range and some of the ones that I am intrigued by are Dirt, Paperback, Play-Doh, Holy Water, Marshmallow, Pizza, Thunderstorm and Saddle.

Have you tried out any Library of Fragrance Cologne Sprays?  Let me know what you think of them.  I can see myself building up a collection of them this year.

Leighlee
I received this product free, but this is my honest opinion of the product and I have not received any payment.
