Revlon Parfumerie Nail Polish Haul from Poundworld

Check out my Revlon Parfumerie Nail Polish Haul from Poundworld.  This is one of my best hauls ever.  I have had my eye on these polishes for ages, but I have so many in my stash that I couldn't justify a spending spree on more nail polishes.  When they are only a £1, then you cannot say no.  I bought 8 different shades.  They are currently £6.49 in Boots.

My Recent Empties

I seem to have used a  lot of products lately as my photos below will show, but no matter how many I use my stash never seems to go down.  Does that happen to anyone else?  I'm not sure what I think will happen if it ever runs out apart from me going out and buying more, but for some reason I aspire to have a non-existent stash. Saying that my hauls & Beauty Boxes don't help.
My latest Empties Post
Here's some of the products that stood out not always for good reasons.

Rodial Bathing Balm Rehab - I got this tub in the SPACE.NK sale last year I think. It is a nice product to use in your bath to have a relaxing soak, but I must admit it was strange to put your hand in and scoop the product out as it was very slimy.  I'm not sure I would repurchase this one.
St Grape Aqua Bliss Bath Scrub - I like this salt scrub and I have already reviewed it here.
My latest Empties Post
Soap & Glory Bad Hair Day Daily Super Shampoo - I bought this in a box set at Christmas and wasn't expecting much but its a really nice shampoo that I may repurchase if I ever run out of shampoo.  I will also check out if they do a matching conditioner.
My latest Empties Post
Etat Pur Express Purifying Mask - This mask didn't seem to do anything for my skin and I remember it smelled awful so I definitely would not buy this again.
My latest Empties Post
Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector Daily All-in-One BB Cream - This is the first BB cream that I ever purchased and at first I wasn't too keen on it as it is very sheer and light, but overtime as my skin has become less dry I found this BB cream really easy to use and it evened out the tone of my skin, whilst not covering it up entirely.  I have a massive stash of tinted moisturisers and BB/CC creams at the moment, but I would buy this again in the future.
L'Occitane Handcream - I think this was a facebook freebie where you received a voucher and went into store to pick it up but I'm not 100% sure.  I love L'Occitane handcreams and I would definitely repurchase, but I have loads of handcreams at the moment. This smells lovely and really moisturises my hands.
Origins VitaZing SPF 15 Energy Boosting Moisturiser - I got this in a sun protection box set from Sephora  and I really liked this product especially as it has SPF included.  It has a really light sheer tint which gives me a nice healthy glow whilst giving me some protection from the sun.  I tend to wear this type of product on work days where I only see the sun very occasionally.
My latest Empties Post
Love Chloe EDP - I got this dinky travel size bottle from Sephora awhile ago and it is great for popping in your handbag to reapply throughout the day. This is a lovely summer fragrance.  I would definitely repurchase.
Modelco Shine Ultra Lipgloss in Berry Pink - This was a magazine freebie which I loved.  It is a really lovely light pink gloss which smells yummy and it's very hard to stop yourself licking it off your lips.
Seche Vite Crystal Clear Base Coat - Does what it says on the tin, no better or worse than other base coats I have used.  I would buy this again.
My latest Empties Post
Laura Mercier Body & Bath Ambre Vanille Souffle Body Creme - I think this came in a beauty Box, although I'm not sure which one.  This is a really nice product that I used to moisturise my legs which tend to get a bit dry, especially in summer.  It has a lovely fragrance as well.  I would definitely repurchase.
My latest Empties Post
I only used up 4 samples this month, 3 Kiehls creams  and one Dr Bronners hand soap. I don't think you can really tell from a sample if something really works or not as I like to try a product for a decent amount of time to see how it works but the Dr Bronners hand soap stood out as it smelled lovely.

I'm really pleased with how many products I've used lately even though it doesn't seemed to have made a dent in my stash. My main aim for the rest of the year is to use more products then I buy (we will see).

I bought these with my own money unless otherwise stated.

You Beauty Discovery Box Review - August 2014

Here is the August 2014 You Beauty Discovery Box.
You Beauty Discovery Box Review - August 2014
The theme of this months box is Summer Essentials and here is what I chose:

Gazelli Triple Youth with White Oil Duo (worth £19.50)
Gazellis luxury discovery set is the perfect one-week introduction to the Triple Youth range and includes an Ultimate Firming Serum (5ml) and Intensive Age-Repair Cream (5ml) to give your skin the ultimate rejuvenation.

Justbe Hydrating Serum (worth £11.65)
An intensely hydrating serum that provides an instant feeling of skin firmness and improved elasticity. Scented with orange blossom which in addition to being a wonderful natural toner has a balancing effect on emotions. Apply a couple of drops to cleansed skin morning and night.

I am really into anti-aging products, especially serums so I was really happy with the items that I picked and I can't wait to use them.

Other options included:
Peggy Sage Nail Polish summer collection or nude collection
Rose & Co Cherry Kiss Lip Balm
Daniel Sandler Long Lasting Waterproof Eye Liner (aqua)
Marsk Gold Eyeshadow – Rich List (mineral eyeshadow)
Louise Galvin Sacred Locks Treatment Masque
Eucerin Sun Mattifying Face Fluid (SPF 50 or SPF30)

Everyone received the following extras:

Jimmy Choo EDP and Jimmy Choo Man EDT (both 2ml).  I like Jimmy Choo fragrances, so I was happy to receive these samples.
FaceD 3-Luronics Instant Effect Cream Serum sachet (2ml)
4 Way Nail Buffer Block

Once again I think this is a fab box for £6.95 including postage.  You can sign up here and you are not obliged to buy every box.  You can cancel if you don't want any of the products on offer each month.

Ojon Rare Blend Tamer Wand Review

Here's my review on the Ojon Rare Blend Tamer Wand.
Ojon Rare Blend Tamer Wand Review
I am trying to search out products that help with my curly, frizzy unruly hair and I really think I have found something that does.  So often you read about products and think they sound perfect for your needs, but the reality is that a lot of the time, you end up being disappointed.

The Ojon Rare Blend Tamer Wand is really easy to use, almost like a mascara wand for your hair.  I usually end up with some short strands of hair around my hairline, frizzing up by the end of the day and nothing really seems to flatten them down for any decent length of time.  I just comb this through the front and side bits of my hair and the gel like liquid flattens the frizzy bits and they stay that way for the rest of the day.  It doesn't leave my hair looking greasy and it doesn't leave any flaky bits in my hair.

It costs £12.50 for 13ml at Boots, which sounds like a lot, but a little goes a long way and I think it will last a couple of months at least.  It's slightly bigger than a mascara, so it's easy to carry around in your bag for a touch up if you are planning on heading out straight from work.  It's not often that a product goes straight on my holy grail list, but this is one of them.

Things To Do In Yorkshire

As it's now the summer holidays (I really wish I had 6 weeks off work, that would be great) I thought it would be good time to write about places to visit in the Yorkshire Area.

I visited for the first time last month when I had a week off work. The weather was absolutely fabulous (which is typical as I forgot my suntan lotion). This is a great place for adults and children alike. It's in Doncaster and is easy to get to from the A1 (more details here). There are plenty of animals to see such as Lions, Tigers, Amur Leopards, Giraffes, Zebras, Ostriches, Camels, Meercats and Squirrel Monkeys, the list goes on. You can get pretty close to all the animals (obviously with barriers around the dangerous ones) and there are some great viewing areas. We had a fabulous view of the leopard walking up his climbing frame. There were some animals that we didn't see much of such as the lions and tigers and painted hunting dogs who were all lazing around sunbathing and who can blame them.

We had some pretty close encounters with a few of the animals. The Giraffes were about a metre away and you are allowed into the enclosures of some of the smaller animals such as the Lemurs, Squirrel Monkeys and Wallabies and they were able to come up to you if they chose to, although the wallabies are the only ones you are allowed to touch as I think the others may bite so best to keep little fingers away no matter how cute they look. All in all it was a great day and it was lovely to see the animals close up. They looked like they were very relaxed and taken care of. It's easy to wonder if these are the best places for these animals, but when reading about the lions you realise they have been rescued from very awful environments and they are now living the life of riley. I would definitely recommend this place if you have a day to visit. There are also places to eat, a gift shop and a play area for the kids.

This prices are here. There is a discount if you book online (its only 50p but every little counts right) and you also can bypass the queue for tickets when you get there.

Hepworth Gallery - Wakefield
This is fairly new to Wakefield and I thought I would add a little bit of culture to my life by visiting when I was on holiday. It's free to enter but parking is £4.50. I must admit it wasn't my cup of tea and when I went into one of the exhibitions, which was full of car tyres randomly placed around a room (I kid you not, I thought there must be a secret camera filming me to see what my reaction was), I realised modern art is not for me, but if you are into that sort of thing it's worth going and won't break the bank. There is a cafe and also a play area outside for the kids. Be aware that there are a couple of exhibits of a sexual nature, but they are well sign posted (to keep kids away not encourage the adults to look I imagine).

Xscape - Castleford
For abit more fun and something child friendly, but definitely not purse friendly Xscape is a great place to visit. There is indoor skiing, 10 pin bowling, crazy golf, Laser Quest and the cinema (which now has an IMAX screen), as well as places to eat such as TFI Fridays, Ask, Giraffe and Frankie and Benny's and there is factory outlet shopping just across the road as well. Parking is free and it's just off junction 32 of the M62. There is also a gym for those of you feeling energetic which costs from £9.99 per month. I tried the skiing once before here (I got a really good deal on Groupon) and the lesson was really good but it's one of the hardest things I have ever done and I don't think its one of my natural talents.  I must have worked off loads of calories though as it was tiring and I have never sweated so much in my life (TMI?).    It is a good place to visit as there is something for everyone. There is a great ride for kids near the ski area.  I've included their facebook page here as I think it's easier to check it out than explain it to you, but it makes me wish I was a kid as I would have loved to ride them when I was younger.

There are a number of other things to do around Yorkshire which I've listed below, which I might put on my things to do when I next have time off work.

This is a museum with 5 galleries - War, Tournament, Oriental, Self-Defence and Hunting.  It's free to enter so while its not my normal cup of tea I might check it out one day.

The York Dungeons - York
I visited this a number of years ago for a work do and it was pretty good. This is a 70 minute journey thorugh Yorks horrible history.  I remember getting scared by the actors who took their roles very seriously.  Prices are here and it is cheaper to book online.

Mother Shiptons Cave - Knaresborough
I remember going on a school trip here quite a number of years ago (do they still do school trips).

Meadowhall - Sheffield
Loads of great shops under one roof.

There are all sorts of things to do around Yorkshire, too many to mention here, so if there is anything that you think would be worth adding please add a comment.

Two Together Railcard

I just thought I would let you know about the Two Together Railcard. If you travel by train with the same person quite regularly, then for £30 (between you) you can purchase this railcard which then gives you a third off standard and first class train travel.

I travel with my sister to London and Manchester quite regularly so this card is perfect for me. I have already saved £23.80 on my first journey,  which shows what good value this card is. It lasts for a year and you have to travel with the person you share the card with for the full journey. You can have more than 1 card, which is useful if you travel regularly with different people.

If you are interested in this railcard, then the full details are here and you can apply for it online (you will need a digital photo to upload when you apply).

Until 17th May 2015, you can get £3 off  the Two Together railcard when you enter the code ONLINE when you order.  Details are here.

There are restrictions so do check out the terms and conditions (Discounts are not valid for travel before 09:30 hours, Monday to Friday, except on Public Holidays).

I bought this Railcard with my own money and no links are sponsored

Essence Makeup Haul

Here is my first ever Essence Makeup Haul.  Essence is a cosmetics brand that I have not heard much about, but Wilkinson has a 3 for 2 offer on right now, so I thought that I would pick up a few products to test them out.  You can check out Essence Cosmetics website here.  Here's what I bought:
Essence Makeup Haul

The Essence Blush Up Powder Blush in the shade 10 Heat Wave is the first product that caught my eye, mainly because it's an ombre blush.  I have coveted an ombre blush ever since I saw a limited edition Mac blush that I couldn't get my hands on. This one is a lot cheaper at £3.50 and it's a rather nice product.  It's quite fine and not dusty at all and has a great colour payoff. As you can see from the photo below you get 3 colours from one blush.  There is a lovely bright orange colour at one side and a hot pink colour at the other. Mix them together and you get a lovely coral colour.  I don't normally wear blush this bright, but with a light hand all these colours can work, especially in summer.   There's no shimmer in it, which is another plus point. I am really happy with this product.

Next up is the Essence 3D Eyeshadow in Irresistible Chocolates.  This cost £2.80. On one side is a metallic gold colour and on the other side is a dark gold with some fine glitter particles.  Again these are fine, non powdery shadows that blend easily and make for a great smokey eye.  Even without a primer they lasted for a good couple of hours, especially the darker one (that's good for me as I have oily eyelids.  I'm sure if you use a primer it will last much longer).   There's good colour payoff from both colours.  Again, I am happy with this product.

The next product that caught my eye was the Essence Quattro Eyeshadow Over the Taupe.  This has 4 neutral colours of varying shades and they all have a bit of shimmer in them.  Sadly this product did not work for me at all. The shadows are all powdery and the colour payoff is not very good, especially on the 2 lighter colours which barely show up on the photo below.  This cost £3.  I won't be keeping this as I know I won't use it.

I picked up 2 nail polishes and they are actually pretty decent. The coral (109 Off to Miami) cost £1.60 and needed 2 coats and the blue (07 blue-jeaned) cost £2 and only needed 1 coat.  They both chipped after 2 or 3 days, but that's normal for me no matter which brand I use.  I will definitely pick up some more polishes from Essence as I really like them.

Finally, I picked up a french polish brush (included in photo at top of page) that cost £1.60.  I'm not really sure why I bought this as I generally don't french polish my nails, but I will give it a try and see if it works.

Overall, I am really happy with my purchases and the 6 items came to a grand total of £10.10 (saving £4.40).

Have you tried Essence makeup?
